Silverladder ARG ended.
No, I'm not kidding.

Silverladder ARG official time of death, 12:10 a.m. MST, 2/29/08

Yes, it's over. Jonah ended Silverladder. The whole thing was only being run by Jonah and Dom. Then Edwin popped in later and obviously has only been around for parts of it. Either way, a mere three people for all of that... and it sounds like Jonah was doing most of it.

They were doing new stuff every week. It sounds like at least most of the cards were being made as they went along. It was a lot of work. And it had become more of work than being inspired to create, as it was supposed to be.

He just couldn't do it anymore, understandably. It got too big. I'm sad to see Silverladder go, but it's for the best.

Just to echo Azures comments, I'm sad to see it go - but it was entirely the right decision for them to make - this became so much more than I imagine they realised it would - it's not often people stand out from the crowd and do something like this and along the way we picked up a remarkable set of passengers whom I hope at least I can stay in touch with for the remainder of my days Smile

I always imagined that silverladder was more than just an arg, it was more about discovery and community - sharing art and music especially, and there's absolutely no reason why that should stop because the storyline tying those elements together has - I will be here for any of you if you need to talk and I hope you all will still frequent the ventrilo channel as I intend to be there to carry on what we started...

... I've learned so much, and although many of you may not realise, I owe more to you than you could imagine - it might sound 'dramatic' but this journey has been life changing for me - I hope that other passengers have perhaps chimed in on the focus of the messages put across to see past the drama that ensued at times - although I fully expect it to have happened in such a creative environment.

That's all for now Smile

Oh no! How disappointing. I can see that a whole year of this for 2 - 2.5 people was rather a lot to ask.

I did really enjoy it while it lasted, though, both the ARG itself and all the friendly players. Where can I lend my classification skills next?

I say we make our own deck with Blackjack and hookers.

All the Passengers make their own card sections. Call yourselves the "<whatever> of <whatever>" and have links, photographs, poetry, sketches, and art and music to share with each other.

I can host it on a sub-domain of mine (silverladder.valrik.net) or I'll get a different domain... "silverstepladder.com" or something.

We could help each other out with the HTML and whatnot...

Or we could just keep the image of Silverladder pristine in our minds and no sully its memory with attempts to copy it.

Either way, it was a grand adventure.

Val, I'm totally up for a "SilverStepLadder" tribute. I think it would be one way to keep the SL art community alive...

It's sad to see the ARG end before the end-point, but hopefully it will be the basis for a long-running community... It ain't over, till it's over, and the IRC channels and Vent will still be open, I'd say.

I've got about 2 minutes to type this, so anyone reading in in the next 45: it'll be edited.
However, to bring some comfort, and because you should know since he's your friend, too. The first thing from Jonah's mouth after he had the room's attention was "My Name Is Shane Watson". Yes, it's true, and a lot of us already had a pretty damn good idea, but suspended disbelief to keep the story believable. I'm sure he'll expound on it more in the near future. He does plan on a formal question and answer time.
...and you should know that even though he called for the end of the ARG for his sake, that in know way signals any death to the community. He expressed how taken aback he was by the monster that was unintentionally yet fortunately created. The "game" is over, but Silver Ladder is not. To sum it up quickly, I told him I'd decided that "I'm not a passenger. I'm a part of Silver Ladder, and so's everyone else here", and he acknowledged that to be so. Here's to the future, kids...I'll be back to add more soon.

I know that there's a number of Passengers already planning on starting our own version.

I'm planning a bit. We'd all love to here everyone's ideas on it, but I don't want planning to happen on uF. I'd rather move it elsewhere so we can bring new players in. Is that cool with everyone?

Anyone who wants to plan, lemme know. I'll make a forum. PM me please.

Also, Val, I don't think Shane would mind this all happening on silverladder.com

I think he actually wants to be a part of whatever happens, just not be quite such a big part. Smile

That was the first thing I thought of when I read about SL no longer here. Oh, well...
