Adam@Home mentions ARGs

Noticed this in the paper a few weeks ago, but never quite got around to it.
This Adam@Home strip mentions a few well-known ARGs. Coincidence? I think not....

I don't see any ARGs mentioned on that particular strip. I see a reference to the TV show LOST. Were there other strips I should look at?

Um, he says "I still say the survivors of Oceanic 815 are in some form of Purgatory". It seemed to me he was mentioning ARGs...[/b]

The thing is, by mentioning Oceanic 815, one can be referring just to the television show, one does not have to explicitly be referring to the Experience etc.

And as for purgatory, Roman Catholic Christianity probably has first (or at least definitive?) use there. When someone uses the word purgatory, they again are not necessarily referring to a particular alternate reality game that uses that word in its name. They might be referring to a state where people are trapped for an indefinite period of time, like the survivors of Oceanic 815.

I suppose Adam@Home could be referring to ARGs, though. It's pretty subjective. The meaning we see in something can be a function of our own experience.

EDIT - I'm not trying to give you a hard time here, nor am I implying that this is a perfect example of pareidolia, which classically involves a much more vague/random stimulus. It's just that ARGs have a tendency to produce pareidolia or something like it (all that looking for signals/messages in what might be noise), and maybe as time goes on even possible references to ARGs will too.

It's probably a reference to the wild theory that the islanders really are in the Roman Catholic purgatory.
