Nine Greek city-states. Add in Delphi, the 'navel of the world', for a round ten - just because all of these Delphi references keep cropping up.

Just a thought:
The codex has 27 pages, devided by 3 (artifacts possibly) gives 9 omphaloi. Could these 9 Greek cities be the omphaloi of the ancient games?
If we do find 9 omphaloi in the omphaloputer then this theory could hold

The left-most column of three is visible in the third trailer for the game.
Do we have that list yet?

First of all, there were more than 9 Greek cities in the presentation. There were 4 columns of 3. 12 cities total. However, the first column was cut off or too blurry to read. The closest you can get is noticing that the second to last letter for one city is an E (because it's missing).

Secondly, I think there are only going to be 2 artifacts for each omphalos. The distances have to be the same between the omphalos and the 2 artifacts. You plan the location of your artifacts first, draw a line between the 2 artifacts, and draw a perpendicular line from the midpoint. Then you put your omphalos anywhere along that line.
This is why Stephenville was picked as the omphalos location. There are only a few cities along the perpendicular bisector between Cardiff and Austin (it mostly goes over water or arctic Canada)
To place 3 artifacts using one omphalos, you _could_ pick 3 cities easily and draw a circle through them... but the center would/could really be in the middle of nowhere or the middle of the ocean. You would have little to no leeway.

One of the cities on the left-hand column ends with "ώνη" which, in the English alphabet, can be translated as "one" or "oni". There aren't many cities at all in Ancient Greece which ended with those three letters. The only one I know of is Methoni (Μεθώνη). For what it's worth, I think that's the city being referred to.

Collage

I've just noticed that the photos and link lines have all been rearranged on the main www.thelostring.com site.

Ariadne is now in the middle of a circle made by the other amnesiacs, connected to Eli beside her, and to Renata off outside the circle...

Mmmmm... symbolism...

Symbolism which lines up with the results of this in-game thread...

The layout of the collage has changed again. With some new photos!
And Ariadne is not linked directly to one of the other fives.

Has someone taken screenshots of the last version?

New photos, new links. Ariadne is closer to Eli, lots of links between the others.

I'm pretty sure there is a collage of the image up at the Wiki. Might be a good thing to get a copy of this one too.

Brings to mind Eli's comment that Theseus and Ariadne depend on each other. Hopefully this Theseus won't abandon the girl Razz.

Does someone have a nice mthod extracting the whole collage from the site or the flash?

Last time I made a lot of screenshots and aligned them to get the whole picture. I guess Thebruce has done this the same way for the first collage.

But this is really much work and unfortunately I do not have the time anymore (last change was during my holiday Smile.

That should really help.

But I thought it would be nice to have again the collage as a picture like this one:

yeah, that's a whole 'nother problem Razz
too much work just to generate the image from the xml. there may be a tool that could make it easier, but meh.
at the very least, a few minutes here or there to create the next major layout shouldn't be a prolem.

Yep...includes the items Theo has sent. Also, the stuff Monica found at her uncle's place appears...but by Diego, not by Monica! There are also more areas of the collage dedicated to ideas rather than people (e.g., the lost sport, the omph codes, the codex, etc.).

I have taken a closer look into the new "connections" of the collage. Most of them make sense, like:

- Theo's warning to Ariadne connected to Norioko's goggles
- Norioko's goggles connected toTheo's warning to Larissa
- Noriko's blindfold connected to the lost sport podcast
- The Pangaea podcast connected to Jorge's postcard

But there is one connection where I do not see what is the common factor:
"Type Run Graph" with the things (maps, second postcard) Monica found at her aunts house?
