not too hard to come by if one looks
the quote makes me sound like I'm hating on McD's... it was just an observation that when McD's involvement was realized some people weren't impressed. I never wavered in my enjoyment of the game
but maybe I just don't know what "tamped" means...
*checks*

One of the things about talking to the press (and this might even include ARGN, I suppose) is that anytime you do so, there is a fair chance your remarks will be paraphrased inaccurately, and your opinions mis-characterized. And as someone who has been on both the giving and (now) receiving end of this process, you can probably appreciate better than most that it's (usually) not malicious; it's just part of the process of writing a story.
(Incidentally, the advice I received on this topic from someone I respect is to *never* talk to the press, unless you're willing to have words put in your mouth that you will never be able to adequately take back.)

Actually, the sentence makes it sound like you actively moderated other players' critical opinions of the game.

which of course I didn't... some people were bothered once they found out McD was a sponsor. That's true. Others didn't, and others defended the game because of trusted people behind it. I didn't lambast anyone for any opinion... and I certainly wasn't alone in speaking good of the game because of other trusted people behind the scenes...
anyway ... I won't drag this thread any more off topic than it already is...

I didn't see this posted.
The South African division of IOL Technology had a great article on March 20th.
'Ring' heralds new era in gaming by Daniel Malherbe
This is how Mav heard about the game, and prompted him to find the Johannesburg artifact.

I was interviewed by Patrick White of the Globe and Mail about The Lost Ring and my experience with ARGs. An article will be forthcoming!

Just a thought - I'd recommend printing all these news articles as .pdf files and attaching them to the wiki, as eventually many will disappear off their sites. I'm happy to go through and do the pdf'ing, but not sure how to add files to the wiki yet...

Jane McGonigal on tvo.org Jane McGonigal was on tvo.org live today, Apr 3rd.
Quote:
The Debate: Have a Nice Day!
The pursuit of happiness: Is the happiness movement making us miserable?
The Lost Ring, and other games familiar to this community, were mentioned.
As of this writing, the recorded video has yet to be posted, but will most likely be found here , on the left side bar, when it is.
It was a great discussion; worth watching. It made me very happy.
thebruce noticed anton's LJ post about it, and many of us in chat had the treat of watching it streaming live. Thank you both... well spotted.
