I see nothing wrong with using that picture for the cover. It seems logical to use that image since it is the most recognizable image from the film. Sure the ammo box style steelbook cover was cool for us cloverheads but they are trying to sell a product to people who may have not seen the film. They hope people will walk by and see the SOL pic from the marketing campaign and buy it to see what all the hype was about.

Looking at all the pictures no appologies are in order. the first one in the thread appears to be a fake/bootleg. It's not remotely similar to the actual cover on the third set of pictures. And since no one was particularly rude or flamey we should all be good here and move on.

It also has the Dreamworks logo branded on it. DW didn't work on Cloverfield.
