Bow Street Runner - Channel 4 'City of Vice' game Game here .
This is part of Channel 4's educational push...a period flash game murder mystery. It might be a bit simplistic to include in Timewasters, but I had fun going through the game (although the 'Trauma Center'-style portion of the game gave me a rather rough time, playing on a laptop)
It's linked to the TV series "City of Vice". Which I'm assuming is a UK only show.

City of vice game I've now tried to play this but can't get past the first screen. I've found everything I should and questioned the girl but it won't let me proceed. Any clues would be very welcome!
Cheers

Cool story, but all the Trama Center stuff was impossible, even with a mouse. No matter how slowly and smoothly I moved the mouse, no dice. Sorry for letting you die, Ms. Harlot.

Uh, the game linked to in the original post: Bow Street Runner, Episode 1. There's a rich Englishman murdered and you have to find out whodunnit. At one point, you encounter his mistress who has been stabbed several times and you have to try to stitch her back up to save her. Its damn near impossible. Earlier in the game, you have to do two other tasks using the same broken game mechanic (pick a pocket and pop a lock). Both are equally ridiculous.
So I ask, what game were YOU playing?

City of vice Sorry!! Oh sorry, yes you are talking about the same game! I haven't got that far yet as I can't get past the first scene. I'm sure I've found everything I can but it won't move on. The constable is just standing over the body telling me to get on with it!!
Any help would be gratefully received!

Once you've collected all the evidence and asked all the right questions an 'exit' symbol appears in the top right corner to allow you to continue. If it isn't there I'd suggest you still have some investigating to do!
I've got a different problem - I got as far as attempting to stitch up the harlot and I appeared to encounter a bug. I clicked to zoom in on one of the wounds, it immediately became stitched up and said 'Success!'. It then just stayed zoomed in on that wound whilst the time ticked away and no amount of clicking would allow me to do anything else. Very frustrating. This has happened both times I've tried to play the game.

if you are still having trouble then look at the spoiler
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
the body isn't the only thing to investigate in the scene. if you are gonna convict someone eventually, you probably need a murder weapon, which is still nearby.

I'm guessing JJ has found the weapon since I don't think you can question the girl before you've found that...
One other thing I wondered - what Prestige did I miss when listening in to the argument when the struggle began? I was playing without sound on, was there an audio clue to tell me to do something?

City of vice Hi folks
Yes I have found the weapon and looked all over the scene and found all the evidence. I guess I'll just have to keep trying. Maybe I'm encountering a problem like you guys are. Thanks for your help anyway, much appreciated. Good luck with your problems

Have you been stern with the harlot? (In a strictly verbal way you understand!)

If you pick up the glass off the desk, you can listen through the walls.

city of vice harlot Yes I have tried it both ways - stern one time, polite the next! I have got 2 bits of evidence, the knife and the hair, have found the invoice for the wedding ring, have hovered over everything in the picture but no luck. I must be missing something

I don't think there's anything else to pick up but you might find you still need to look at a couple of things - there's something by the hand you didn't find the hair in and it might pay to check his pockets more than once...
