The link takes you to Cleo's Pain Emporium, which talks about "one of their own" going missing and that more information will be provided once the password is entered.

Players are suggested to follow the warnings of Ethan Haas and led to his website, which shows a large cityscape. Upon further exploration, a large ball with symbols that light up in a pattern when you click on them appears.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Clicking upon the left star in the sky opens up an e-mail document with the e-mail: vanSPLATethanhaaswasright.com, and the subject "I'm one of you... help me!".

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
In the source code you can find a hint, leading you to http://www.ethanhaaswasright.com/helpme, a hint page, concerning how to solve the puzzle.

I'm working as we speak on solving the puzzle.

EDIT:

Upon solving the first puzzle, the sphere seals up and a video is displayed. The man in the video identifies himself as Van, and talks about another man named Ethan Haas, who believed he'd seen the future. According to Van, everything that Ethan said would happen, has happened. He also talks briefly about a group of people meant to stop something or someone from happening, and that in order to join this group, we must go through some tests.

To solve the first puzzle..

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
You must click on the symbols on the first puzzle sphere in the order indicated by the flashing lights. If you mess up, the puzzle resets. (Note: some go quite quickly, particularly the first one, so keep an eye out)

Puzzle

The puzzle on the site should be simple once you see the pattern.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Seems like a memory test, push the buttons in the right order thing. This leads to a video.

The Second Puzzle

Looks like the second lock requires you to e-mail Van.
Hopefully he can provide some answers to the how the lock works, but until then I'll continue to hack away at it.

EDIT: Found this in the source code, completely overlooked it the first time.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
...war came, no longer from the elemental nor from the star's rain of fire. The world was again remade, and the glow was as the coming of the sun upon the Earth. The children of the gods were again too few, scattered and divided and among them walked the ancients and those whose thoughts were not as to the towers and the marvels, but to the End and the destruction of the Earth and to the fires from which nothing could escape.

A Google search leads to some Cloverfield related material.. I wouldn't know, but I think this might be a trout.

Apparently it's related to some RP game. Or something.

That's what it says at the bottom of the Pain Emporium, anyway.

Either someone is trying to ressurect the game Ethan Haas Was Right, this is a fan-made continuation, or the company behind the original project wants it brought back.

I didn't play the original, but EHWR was a campaign that was initially confused for part of Cloverfied but later confirmed as unassociated.

I'm not sure if the /helpme page was part of the original game -- 80 pages is a bit intimidating to pore through. It might be helpful to look through the archives I linked if you're interested in this, though.

Ethan Haas Was Right is related to a PC game titled Alpha/Omega. Don't know what they're trying to do with this though, considering this was all done and finished quite a while ago.

EDIT: search found this

I think this is just a fan continuation. Duh, it's at the bottom of the first page.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Following the guides I found on the internet - this is hella old - I made it to the end and found the word "DIVINUS". Entering that, in all caps, lets you in and opens up a missing report for Regina Haus. The password would have been easy to find without all of the Alpha/Omega stuff - it was left open in the source code.

Not this again...

Yes, the whole puzzle thing was part of the original Ethan Haas ARG. "DIVINUS" was the final word in the puzzle, and that wound up getting you a discount on the Mind Storm Labs store for a limited time.

Regina Haas was a character created by Myridean of the AO forums. You can see the announcement post HERE. He also owns the NeoPangea domain, and is part of a "virtual campaign" he is creating (he's even very up front about his "Alpha Omega virtual roleplaying game" in his signature on the forums).

Regina Haas has a MySpace page: http://www.myspace.com/regina_haus (note the misspelling)

Myridean, although last I heard was not a MSL employee, has had a close relationship with them. I am hoping that, if he is continuing this, he does have their full support. Or else this might be another NerComm in the making...

For the record, "Spiritus Machina" has also posted on the AO forums: HERE

Well, regardless of whether the PM has their permission, there doesn't seem to be much going on anyways.

The unprotected /images directory doesn't have anything out of the ordinary.

The only advice, after getting to the end of A/O's puzzle trail and getting the password, is to sign up at neopangea.net, and that currently has nothing but a dialogue redirecting people to A/O's main page.

Thanks for the background, though, Nighthawk. I'll keep my eye on this.
