hey esperanto tim - the artifact file names all start with an esperanto word - pruvoderehavigo - I figured out the roots, but can you suggest an appropriate english translation?

It's written 'pruvo de rehavigo' on the bits of paper.

proof of reprocure

Refers to the codes on the docs that serve as proof of having found them.

I've actually been racking my brains to find a suitable English word for that, but I haven't quite got it yet. (Note that as well as being in the file name, it's also the last line on each artifact: the words "Pruvo de rehavigo" followed by a string of letters and numbers. If you can quote that string, then you've proved that you've found the document).

The suggestion above, "proof of reprocure" pretty much covers the meaning -- it's just that I've never heard the word "reprocure" before! If you understand "procure" or "procurement", then "reprocure" means much the same as "rehavigo", but it's still a bit of a funny word.

"Pruvo de" just means "proof of", so that's easy.

As for "rehavigo", it means... "having something back", "finding something again", "repossession"... or "reprocure" if you like.

The best translations I've seen so far of the whole documents -- linked from here -- use "repossession", so I think that's probably the way forward, in the absence of a better suggestion.

Ooh, actually, I quite like "Proof of recovery". Yeah, I think I'm going to put that into the wiki texts.

Thanks for that.

Is the actual "Pruvoderehavigo JR01/SPL7/AG2I/JR28/1FB7" command working for anyone? I notice that the Stephenville omphalos is still not recognizing that it has been recovered.

Wasn't working yesterday either. PDF was recovered by going directly to the file using the first recovered as the pattern for directories. Likely it wasn't meant to work until Tuesday.

Ooh, boy. You want to go back? Very Happy I'm guessing that might be the problem, since the artifact wasn't actually "recovered." I'm amazed you didn't keep them anyway! Nice of you to return it, but gosh...People die for swag like that. If it was me I would've framed the pages and hung them in my living room.

(Not really...I'm geeky, but not that geeky...I'd probably try to sell it on e-bay...)

If it had been me, I think I would probably have got copies and left the originals too. But it does seem that maybe you should have taken them after all. Are you able to get back and pick them up sometime soon?

I could in the afternoon, probably. Maybe someone could get there earlier in the day? Come on Austin!

This is the kind of place where you can't take stuff in (like a bag) or out. It seemed like they were cutting me a huge amount of slack when I asked if I could take a photo- and I wasn't allowed to take a flash photo. The guy was definitely treating the artifact like it was a piece of the archive. heh- Maybe he's a swag hound! Or maybe I just didn't ask the right question, such as "can i take this?"

Maybe you should print off that message from Ariadne, so you can brandish it at them and say "Look, I'm meant to keep these documents". Or tell them that the future of the Olympic Games, and even the world, depends on you removing 2 pieces of paper from their building. See what they say to that!

Re: [RING][ARTIFACT] Ch. 2 (@Austin, Texas, USA)
Removing the Codex?

Imagine this: In 1980, someone figured out a tiny sliver of the Omphalos puzzle, and found a piece of the Codex.

And kept it.

Where would we be today?

I think leaving the pages in place is the better approach. I'd think about asking Ariadne to put hers back where she found them, but I can't seem to come up with a polite way to say "You know, in case we fail and you disappear like the others."

In related news, geez it takes a long time to get caught up when I slack off for a week!
