I'll try to phone when i'm home. I speak Dutch, English and French (a bit) and I've got Skype Out credit so it won't be too expensive.

I'll tell whether I succeeded afterwards, which will be aroud the time of the Esperanto-lessons.

Please inform anyway if you succeeded to get information earlier.

LaPingvino, I think they speak french (the man did answer the phone with "Casa Manuel, bonjour" so I'm sure you'll be fine with it.

I've called. They ask me to call back later, and that someone will be able to help in dutch... Sad Sounds quite the same story to me. They know about the lost ring however, it seems.

I'll try some other ways too.

I just called the 46 number, and they told me that 46 is the restaurant 47 is the bar

He told me it's possible that the document is there but I have to talk to someone else... gonna try again.

Ps: they are probably getting irritated by all these calls Smile

EDIT:

Ok, I just called again, here how it went.
When I called the 46 number, a guy called Mr. Gomes, very nice man, told me that was the restaurant and told me to call the bar on the 47 number and ask for Mr. Manuel, I called and it went like this.

"Casa Manoel bonjou"
Hi, do you speak english?"
"yea yea"
"Can I talk to Mr. Manoel?"
"He doesnt speak english"
"I know, I speak portuguese."
"okey okey"
*me waiting*
"He doesnt speak english"
"I know, you told me that already, I will talk to him in portuguese"
"What are you?"
"My name?"
"Yes yes"
"Marcos, can I talk to him?"
*he hangs up on me*

1. Recovery - when Jasper was prompted to go back and take the Austin documents she left behind, and the Austin artifact did not show 'recovered" until she did so, we learned that the documents must actually pass into the hands of Ariadne's helpers. [Yes probably they have an arrangement to be told when the documents are actually taken.] But I also assume that recovery requires input of the code to the omphaputer. Which means someone has taken it and knew what to do with the code.
guess.

But when Joost recovered the artifact in Stockholm, he did not take it, IIRC, and it quickly was shown as recovered.

I wonder if the papers are still there in Stockholm, or if someone else took them?

Apparently the Stockholm copy was collected at some point. They just didn't post about it.

I'm starting to think they're confusing us on purpose. It doesn't make sense. We tried with several different languages and they seem to not understand what's going on. Surely someone there must know about it - and must of or should of informed their employees - since the PM's wouldn't put the item there without the knowledge of the restaurant - with this being a big game and all, and its legal ramifications. So, is this really another social engineering puzzle or communication problems?

Has anyone tried speaking to them in French? All the restaurants/businesses I've been to in Belgium address you in French, unless you speak to them first in Dutch...

Since the restaurant apparently needed someone who spoke another language (we assume portuguese) and they asked for a specific name - and the PMs couldn't know what our names are to warn the restaurant but they COULD indeed provide the name of a characters who might help - I have suggested trying to get Larissa to call the restaurant - she speaks portuguese, right? All she needs is a skype account or a borrowed phone with international service available.

We tried to get Lucie to go to Belgium through a forum post from LaPingvino and she said she cannot. I followed up with a request that she call the restaurant once the problem started yesterday, and there has been no reply to that.

It would seem to me that the only way to know for sure is to actually go there, or have someone go there...At this point it be better if someone who is actually playing the game would go, but I think our options are essentially "A friend of a friend of a cousin of a buddy who knows this guy" sort of thing

[META]It just seems odd to me that the PMs would want us leaning on one of the characters for help rather than trying to figure things out for ourselves, especially since the agons seem to be completely unable to help (or to just ignore us) whenever we ask

I'm sure they knew we might try to call, so as not to have to go in person, and I guess told the restaurant to not be helpful if we tried to get it without being there in person. Maybe they're counting on us to find a friend of a friend of a cousin, rather than taking the easy way out...

Wondering now where the New Delhi omph is going to lead us. Hopefully not to somewhere in the Middle East... Neutral

I agree with all that Elizabeth, except now we may be in a situation where there is nothing left to collect - someone took it, used the code and kept going (worst case). In which case a character may be one of the few ways to get over the glitch (assuming it is a glitch). So we try things that open multiple potential pathways to a solution of what happened with this artifact. That includes still trying to get someone there in person although that part isn't going so well. The PMs will either use what we're offering or come up with something else.
