I'm desperately trying to tie in the coastline and the Olympics.
For the Gulf of Corinth i found the following.

Corinth, Isthmus of, c.20 mi (32 km) long and 4–8 mi (6.4–12.9 km) wide, connecting central Greece (Attica and Boeotia) with the Peloponnesus, between the Gulf of Corinth and the Saronic Gulf. It is crossed by the Corinth Canal, built between 1881 and 1893, which connects the Aegean and the Adriatic seas. Parallel to the canal are ruins of the ancient Isthmian Wall, which was restored (3d–6th cent. A.D.) by Byzantine emperors to defend the Peloponnesus. Near the eastern end of the wall are ruins of the sanctuary of Poseidon where the Isthmian games were played.

Some interesting info about the Isthmian Wall/Games and also about Poseidon?
I guess this would leave plenty of room for the training to take place if it held the Isthmian games.

Again, just my ramblings Smile

You most definitely found the picture that looks most like the drawing, yes. But then again, what sort of activities was being held here in 1916-18? So our old amnesiacs could hide their training in plain sight...

Since we're not sure how to use these data (like feeding the omphaputer), perhaps we could ask an expert, like Eli Hunt. I do doubt that these exact drawings were put in here to waste our time. Has anyone tried to make a map, and look for a pattern? Or perhaps played around with the names of the buildings/sites, for a clue...

hmm... I still think Iceland could be it, though. When I was researching it I read that the site is to this date still being used for different happenings.

damn pile of rocks!

I hope you are right, too! But, having argued wrongly myself for three different buildings (St. Peter's, St. Isaacs and the Temple of Poseidon- still gnashing my teeth over that one because the big trident weilding guy fits our story!) and posted a hopeful (but wrong) statue with a crown, I've become convinced that we should be able to find a photo that matches enough to be the source for the sketch.

I think the source photo will turn up. If it is Delphi, we should be able to get that match.

I've made a map of the five locations that we've found so far; as far as I can tell, all the five locations are in Europe. At first I thought the six locations were found in countries where each of the six travellers woke up, but upon reconsideration, we don't have a location in New England or Scotland yet, and we've only got one more location to find.

The map can be found here: http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?hl=en&ie=UTF8&oe=UTF8&msa=0&msid=107423374848027489283.0004491c228000c1cf389

So minor brain wave... I'm just about running out the door this omrning and don't have time to look into it but... I looked up a rail map of europe, and tried to compare to our locations... I didn't have enough time to check them all out, but from a preliminary glance it seems that the locations can all be reached by the rail line... Sorry if this is ignorant I just don't have the time now to investigate further. here is a link though to the site with the map

Very promising indeed!

This would all fit in with the discussions we've been having regarding the Western Maryland Railway connection - in particular with filipeacaeiro's latest post regarding the first steam locomotive being put into service in 1814 being linked to the drop in the graph.

My wife commented last night that the biggest shift the trains would have provided globally was the interconnecting of peoples at a much faster rate, much more conveniently. Before that, we're talking ships, horse-drawn carts and walking... Could this be considered the start of globalisation?

Looking forward to having a closer look at that map, jasper... Smile

I guess a big picture is starting to form here with the trains and the graph... The main question concerning this issue is What is the connection between the graph and the railways, what is the effect of railways and this train discoveries on the equation used in the graph?

Who here has seen chapter ten from Buenos Aires? It talks about Parallel Geography; a basic summary is that all the worlds must connect for athletic synchronisation, but this is harder than you'd think. There could be dramatic changes in the geography of different worlds. Paris on one world could be the middle of the Atlantic Ocean in another, or the top of Mt. Everest, and so on.

Basically, a world needs to choose at least six training sites to connect them to as many worlds as possible. Sofia are responsible for co-ordinating this; the event must be synchronised within the six sites of one world and with the other sites of many worlds.

Six sites, eh? Six pictures in the Shanghai documents... six sites... and also the six co-ordinates on Monica's postcard... six agonothetai... six continents - whoops, sorry, did I say that? I meant five. Or did I?

So, co-ordinating the sites. Big job. Anyone know the phone number of my counterpart in the next world? It could come in handy right now. Maybe B-Brodie knows more than I do... who'm I kidding? Ariadne probably knows more than I do, and she's got amnesia Razz.

If we figure this out, it means I can stop looking at hundreds and hundreds of pictures of coastline, rocks and such. Hurray!

Well, take a look at this picture. It is the acheological cite of Ireon, in Corinth. I found it on a Greek site, and will try to give a translation of the importance of Ireon in the games of Delphi. It seams that the olympic truce took place there.

I like Corinth too. I keep trying to make the outline of this hill http://www.corinthopera.gr/en/site.html line up with something in the picture. The text of the chapter tells us they practiced at an archaelogical site
