I was lurking around the diversion area when i found this thread.
I got curious, and went to the site. - http://www.jointheconspiracy.kk5.org/ - and recieved the same email as the guy that posted.

The sender is 'nameunknown' and the title of the email is 'Searching for Instrumentality? Re:'

After a while trying to go about finding out what the code means, i got another email from 'nameunknown'

After looking at all three quickly, yeah. it looks like at least Paris and London are pictures of the same place. The Japan picture shows a sign saying College Main to one side and Houston on another.
I'm all the way from UK, so i'm leaving this to the more geographically able unforumers.

So, who feels like joining this conspiracy?

Haha. I know where that is. That is Bryan/College Station (they kind of blend together) in Texas. Here's a Google Map: http://xrl.us/bd7et (the URL was kind of long so I used a shortener).

What tipped me off was the:

I find it particularly funny since I'm from Austin, the home of their rivals (the Texas Longhorns).

I guess that someone would have to go out to those locations and check them out. Seems that there's going to be something where those marks are.

like highwind said, it's probably a good idea to get someone who lives in texas to find where these pictures were taken. See what's 'underneath' the symbol.

Another would be to find anything about the symbol, what it represents, etc.

Find out if the 'code' in the first email means anything, the PQDTQMDHMAKLNYDUHOQXUOBQGPHUDYTPXINI.
I've checked out most of the tools in unfiction, and so far, nada.

I'm just curious why some of the words are capitalised in the email, Join, We and Interesting Times.
This one's probably a dead end, i tried googling stuff, but the only thing i can find is the 'curse' of "May you live in interesting times"

We can't do anything else, since there's no other data. hopefully more will be revealed soon,

I've recently moved to the Killeen area and this looks like it's roughly an hour away from where I am. Unless something comes of it beforehand, I can probably swing a little road trip to check this out...tomorrow at that (Sunday Jan 12 for official record). I emailed the address and got the same reply with pics.

Since this would be the first one anywhere near my neck of the woods, I can't help but want to go for it.

What is this flower symbol - I have seen that somewhere before.

So there's the Paris and London link, I suppose. Contact is Wendy Tan. I forgot the protocol about that - do we make contact with the contact or pretend we didn't see this part?

Anyhow, still have no idea about the code, other than I can see a few words within it but not convinced that's the point (you, box, big, in, look, etc - you look in big box? heh). The capped letters didn't jump out at me so far but since the email alludes to a search, I went that route to start.

Well a search for instrumentality brought up there off the top:

In "roll" link it shows the founder being Lord Cordwainer and a quick search there brought up this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cordwainer_Smith which kinda looks like the image for LC in the website above.

Thanks for the Aggie forum link. I read thru that, amused, but finally worked out what that one guy had done, not that it mattered since they posted the link anyhow! Embarassed

Okay for a recap...the image on the main site is one depicting Wilhelm Kaiser and generals. Apparently this pic has braille dots on it and when decoded gave NTZ and 125. According to them over there, the whole German aspect was a nod to look at Enigma - so hey, I feel kinda good about that since it occurred to me too. I dl'd the sim from those links but it locked up. The one guy on the Aggie forum posted a link to a different one, which used NTZ on the rotors and the 125 on the cogs to solve the code provided in the email...

That led where it led, and when checking that out there *was* a video available. I kick myself because I watched it 2 or 3 times but hadn't quite plugged in to what, exactly, this is all about and it did strike me as more legit than ARG so I X'd out...only when I plugged in after the enigma sim, go back to the site, the video has vanished - like within 15 minutes...

It showed 2 college aged dudes and a chick sitting outside somewhere by a camper, talking when they're interrupted by some truly bizarre looking creature that appeared on the top of the camper. Looked like a giant mouse slash fox slash monkey slash deer and it turned and jumped off the top of the camper toward or into a nearby tree, where they lost it.


I was kinda tripping on it. Paused, rewound a few times trying to see what the hell that actually was...then Xd out to go back to the forum and catch up. Now that video isn't there and is replaced by a "new video coming soon" message. I don't know if it's IP/time sensitive or what.

And finally, the news link down bottom shows a symbol of double swords or daggers through a cross, with the same flower symbol as in the above pics in the center. Apparently this group was given a grant from a German organization to go to Borneo in exchange for completing a research project called project Chimera.

And finally, someone brings up the rear with

Okay, so periodically I like to backtrack the YT comments and this one went back to page 9 I think it was where people were suggesting it looked like a big koala....only I noticed in the tags that it noted Orleans and Lousiana and camping. Hmmm....

Reading some of the comments farther back, somebody posted this:

A little further exploration, but very little, shows the punchline....go ahead.

HOWEVER

That is for the Labou...and I'm not convinced that the site that originally showed the video is connected to Labou specifically. The YT video has been up at least a year, and for the record, I just moved from LA to TX and never heard of any of that so hey. The current site/game/arg thing just displayed the video - they did not claim it as theirs either way.

There is still a trail for the CS fliers and the site. I'm having little luck with project Chimera...so far.
