So they're looking for the "Indiana Jones" type, I guess. No fear, bruce! Grab the ol' bullwhip and get crackin'!

In case anyone had missed it, I stumbled upon something on songwraith's youtube page:

We are very sorry, but this adventure is on hold for the time being, due to situations beyond our control. Please check back periodically.

It explains why there has been a lull lately in activity.

Progress

Yea me too. I havent said much as i came across this one only a few days ago, so Hi everyone! but read through and really like the feel of this one.

I'm in Great Britain, which is great as the game seems to be taking place in Ohio, just round the corner.

Bruce - with regard to your personal safety, your doing the right thing by simply posting on here all of your ingame movements. Although not impossible, I think it would be very unlikely that a game which has already had notable effort put into it's design would then make a criminal act against a player.

Email addresses, websites and identities might be hard for us to find as players, but if police were called in to investigate an offence that happened, i'm sure that real identities would be handed over from the various forums / blogs / etc that the game makers were using.

And if it's written on Unfiction (or any other good quality Alternative Games Forum) where n when your planing to meet up, our Puppetmaster would have dug himself a pretty large hole.

Whether you want to spend time / cash on the trip though - this is an entirly seperate matter of course.

I think that the meeting was going to be at night because they want to give you something that glows blue, and it will look more impressive then.

heh ok, to clarify, I did send another message looking for a bit more detail. I didn't get a reply. The next update was that meta message.

ultimately, there were a few factors for me not going in a timely fashion:
1. Instructions were very vague (and in the end don't seem to match actual happenings - I may have visited early (before the 'trail of images'), but then the page was to be given, with no indication of a 'trail of images'))
2. Extremely inconvenient - I already went once, after convincing a friend to take the drive (during high gas prices Confused). A coach to Toronto is more convenient than busing to that relatively inaccessible area.
3. Time and Cost (see 2)
4. Safety - whether due to meeting an unknown person, or simply being midnight in a very secluded area in a (afaict) relatively shadey part of town. While, based on a fairly accurate assumption it's a game, there's almost certainly no risk of danger from those in the game, it's still a shady meeting place/time.
5. given the theme/nature of the game, I just wouldn't have felt comfortable with that meetup, nor would I likely condone that kind of meetup as a regular occurance in ARGs, that could ultimately have very young players who might by default assume such an event would be 100% safe.
6. It wasn't absolutely necessary that *I* get the page, since I was also told "So don't get it". Unfortunately, I don't know of anyone else in the area who would get it, let alone anyone not already playing the game.
7. I was contemplating biting the bullet the day I sent the last message which didn't get a reply.

It's unfortunate. But I like to assume this whole thing isn't the reason the game is "on hold"... if it is, then I'd say it's definitely not good writing if a game collapses (in a very meta way) because a player doesn't accomplish a task... lack of completion should be taken into account in the gameplan, if at least to be open for a last minute re-write.

So I'm favouring the PM(s) at this point here in that there's an honest, legitimate reason for the stall. No reason to think otherwise, IMO.

This is indeed very interesting. Too bad it has stalled. Also, I live on Vancouver Island (which has both an O and an X on it. The O is near Victoria, where I live.

I have seen games have halts like this. It is indeed frustrating but I feel when it does pick back up we'll have fun and it'll be worth the wait.
