Do we know what the picture on the postcard is of? I can't read the capital letters in the bottom-right hand corner and I think that's the place name.
The image must be relevant. It might help tell us who "Theo" is?
I tried sharpening it through Photoshop, but the only words I think I'm seeing are "Canterbury" and "Olympic." May even be wrong about those.
Okay...Time for more location searches, this time for Olympic stadiums...

Isn't the picture from the 1920 Antwerp Olympics?? It seems similar to the postcards received when the game started...

Is this it?
Doesn't have the arched gate, but everything else looks similar. This is the Antwerp stadium...

Indeed that's postcard coded #RAAIM057, according to the wiki. It's Beerschot Stadium. Over at the olympic.org site (http://www.olympic.org/uk/games/past/index_uk.asp?OLGT=1&OLGY=1920 )you can see more pictures on different angles too. Its coordinates, if that's of any use, are: 51.184829, 4.382164.

If it is Antwerp, that makes sense. The first chapter of the Codex of the Lost Ring was written in Antwerp on 11th November 1918. Is Theo connected to the "old six"?

The postcard is from the 1920 Olympic Games in Antwerp. It was one of the pictures that was included in the boxes that were sent out.
The text in the lower corner is a database ID number and notice that the picture is from the official archives. Basically copyright info.
The hand writing on the back of the note to Ariadne is the same as was on the posters and pictures we got in the boxes, though I personally don't think this means the boxes are "in game" but it's still interesting to note.
