[RING][ARTIFACT] WHO TOOK THE BRUXELLES ARTIFACT?!
Plot Twist? Mistake? Gamejack?

All right. Fess up. Who collected the Bruxelles artifact or at least the code and dialed it up on the omphaputer but didn't report in to Ariadne or one of the forums?

Maybe we should post this in big letters on the wiki? I haven't been able to find other online communities working on the game, so I doubt anyone would've been able to find it unless they'd been either here or on the wiki...

What I find hard to comprehend is that it's been "recovered" for how many days now? There are only a handful of places where people following the game can go, and not a single one has driven out someone who has it, even after some characters asking about it...

I think it's in game at this point...that somehow someone unbeknownst to us is working against us, and that could only mean they'll make their presence known soon...

At least thats what my gut tells me

Eli Hunt suggested that the Ancient Greeks may have tried to remove all knowledge about this ancient sport - remember how the engravings describing it were defaced?

Could it be that it's not only six athletes who appear every four years to try and discover and compete at the sport, but others as well who're here to stop them, so that the knowledge of the sport remains hidden?

If so, such people could be using the ompha-muter as well, trying to find out where clues to this sport exist and then finding (and destroying) them before we do. If that's true, we need to be a lot quicker at finding these artefacts as soon as their locations are known.

Maybe it's the same people that made Renata disappear??

Has anyone emailed Eli about this?

Was thinking I might, but don't want him getting inundated with the same message...

We know that Mr. Hunt was hesitant because he was paranoid about helping the wrong people. I guess there are some in game wrong people to worry about.

Yeah, I mailed him today. Assuming he got it, he's never replied to my mails tho.

BTW, this is nice fodder for the theory that there are others watching us. Though it's probably just a well-done troll: http://forums.findthelostring.com/thread/1074

I mentioned that to Eli too, so he may think *I'm* the paranoid one. Wink

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think one of Eli's emails or other communications with us mentioned something about not having a minotaur "yet"; was that an IG hint that there *would* be some kinda "sabotage" in future? Like the taking of the Bruxelles artifact??

I'm thinking there may be more than just the minotaur (if there's an enemy)... there could be a Theseus too... and some of the stories in the mythos about Theseus and Ariadne say that he abandoned her when she had helped him to get out of the labyrinth (and then Ariadne cursed Theseus, and some drama like that)

Why is it so improbable that someone not at all involved with the Unfiction community went and picked up this item?

The other in-game theories are fine, but it's really not that far-fetched a possibility that someone went and got it and confirmed it and simply didn't e-mail Ariadne.

That brings me to a question: where is the 'rule', in-game, that we have to e-mail Ariadne after finding a chapter? Is it clearly specified somewhere other than deep in an in-game forum thread or at Unfiction?

Cos if not, there you go.

(fwiw, I did a cursory inspection of the last few pages of her blog, and there's no real indication that e-mailing her is The Thing To Do when you recover an artifact. There's lots of links to forum discussions, but that's about it.)

Krystyn--I've done a number of searches in the past couple days, including searches in German and French, trying to find other communities (and references to Bruxelles), and haven't really been able to find anything. I'd assume (or at least hope) that if someone found the pages, they'd at least post something in the forums, understanding it's the only really centralized way of getting information across. Hopefully it's clear from forum messages that people have been trying to figure out what happened to the artifact. (If not, maybe we should post an attention-getting kind of message in all forums?)
