do you do anything but complain?

This comment, combined with the previous one, and the recent email from Piginabeard makes me strongly suspect you of being the PM. I hope not, as posting here is a violation of the TOS.

Assuming you aren't, in terms of the game running slowly this week (which it has) if you re-read the posts above you might see that rather than complaining we are merely stating facts, and indeed expressing concern that there isn't any problems with the running of the game. I can't see a single post that says anything like "this game sucks". The closest is Leyton's, although I read it as "losing sucks" and given what he's said he's probably justified (IMHO).

FWIW I think you'll find most people complain when they are hit by bad luck, whether it's the weather, a bad hand in cards, or poor dice rolls.

Finally most, if not all, of the players understand there can be any number of contributing factors to problems in running a game, but as so many games implode people will start to wonder. If the PM is indeed ill then they have been making a great effort to keep the game running this week, rather than pause it, which I am sure we all appreciate. The IG explanation didn't make this clear though.

EDIT: And based on the latest email it seems we have a little contratemps going on with the PM. It's hard to comment without knowing the content of some of the emails, but I can see this all collapsing very soon...

i'm not the pm nor do i have time to run something like that. i've talked to him in email before after the old arg ended and i know he puts a lot of efort into this stuff and it disappoints me when i see what comes across as people complaining. the last page or two of posts sure sounds like complaining to me. it seems to go against the spirit of the whole arg concept. what bothered me was the use of quotations around chance cards suggesting that there is something more than chance involved and people complaining about their moves not working. its a dice game. its a game of chance. i seriously hope none of you ever go to vegas if this upsets you this much. if you guys question the honesty of the game, email the pm, don't sit here and badmouth someone running a game who can't even defend himself here. it seems childish.

Hmmm, just a coincidence then that you're posting your angry comments here at the same time as the PM sending angry emails?

Please point out the posts where we have badmouthed the PM, I really can't see any? As for childish, which is more, or less mature, complaining about bad luck, which everyone does, or misconstruing those comments, getting upset and emailing/ posting comments about the players?

It feels like there's a whole load of over-sensitivity here.

FWIW I've played one or several ARGs in the years I've been here, and in just about all of them there are stages in the game where people complain, whether it's about the game going too slow, or a puzzle being too hard or whatever. I can only remember one other time where the PM complained about the players, and after some huffy behaviour the game stopped. Like you say running an ARG takes a lot of time and work, however no matter how much you put in things will go wrong, and you will never ever please everyone. Good PMs accept the players comments, learn from anything that's valid, and hopefully produce an even better game the next time.

well based on Piginabeard's latest email it seems he's had some strongly worded emails from players, so I guess there are players out there who are taking this too seriously. My comments above where on my understanding of the posts on here, which I didn't think where that bad.

I will be disappointed if this all ends in a flame war, nothing worse than overcooked ham

I'm not sure who you are, but I know the PM and he's fine with everything right now and said that he doesn't want people coming on UF speaking for him. I alerted him that someone was on here baiting players into a flamewar and he asked me to ask you to please stop. Whoever you are, you don't speak for him. Stop posting here.

To the players: The PM is fine. He's not sick anymore and the game should be progressing as normal. That's what I've been told.

The emails were in response to one particular player who opted to send a very harsh email full of profanity to him and to another player of the game complaining about something being rigged. When he responded about it, I'm told the player really ripped into him. I saw part of the quoted email and I can say it was unnecessarily nasty.

He's fine. The game isn't going anywhere. He just wanted the players to not be cussing each other out via email addresses that he provided them.

That's all. Get back to killing each other now.

Cris

Alisdairpark, that last post was meant for anonymous, not you.

I felt the need to clarify.

Cris.

I would just like to STRONGLY CLARIFY I was NOT the player who sent harsh emails to the PM.

I thoroughly enjoyed this game and yes, it was more than likely my own fault that I was knocked out as MAYBE I should have sent an OOG Email to PIAB explain my personal problems - Although having read here as I know he probably does from time to time I have explained my mother is severely ill atm and I've been going back and forth looking out for her.

Nonetheless - I was knocked out but yeah it was slightly strange that all my chance cards were a bit miffy and only my opponents last one got me any good points. But that's another matter.

I have no problems w/ the game or the PM, the end Smile

Seconded.
He's a really groovy guy and I hope he's doing better.

It is completely unnecessary to send hate mail.

Whoever the guest is, I hope you are not referring to me in regards to complaining. If you are, I am really angry that you would turn my honest concern into a complaint. And when I said I am still here and ready to play, it was razzing and having fun - so I hope you weren't twisting that either.

I am going to hope that the offending player is a new person and not an SL vet. Behaviour that involves angrily swearing at anyone involved in Hamwar, SL, the world, is UNACCEPTABLE BEHAVIOUR and it will not be tolerated. You lose all credibility in your claim when you do not state your concern intelligently and properly. I don't even know what the problem is/was/will be, the facts are that you do not treat people in that manner ever. I am hoping I am typing to myself, however, because the offending person obviously does not read this board/is not part of the community. DO NOT BE RUDE TO EACH OTHER! There are enough problems out there, don't bring them in here too.
