[DK][UPDATE] Gotham Times

Starting a new thread to discuss the new happenings with the Batman arg.
Continuing from this thread, since it's no longer specific to WhySoSerious

Summary so far:

These newspapers were sent to people who submitted photos to the landmark photo contest from Halloween

November 23rd, the website TheGothamTimes.com went live with a digital version of the newspaper.

The newspaper contains numerous articles, leading to additional websites:
* WeAreTheAnswer.org
* RememberingGina.org
* GothamNationalBank.com
* GothamPolice.com
* a phone number: 1-866-237-6480 (which currently tells you basically that subscriptions are unavailable because their distributor suffered damage in the narrows (the event from the past movie))
* letterstotheeditorSPLATthegothamtimes.com

Also on the first page of the Times, there is a crease along the top of the first article. If you click and peal back the corner, you'll reveal a message from the Joker, and a link to TheHaHaHaTimes.com

In the HaHaHaTimes spoof of the real newspaper, Joker's circled a number of words and phrases:
Mobsters fight for their right to party wrote:
Gotham streets turned into
killed in
after midnight, attempting to
late last night, police
press conference
continue to take every
crime
mob watches said the
alignment

Dead letters to the sheep wrote:

Gotham girl guides sue elves for stealing cookie recipes wrote:

young

home to these days?

a

"But now, after the thefts, I look

Look out gotham, Harvey Dent's tie attacks wrote:
to get in front of as
It's the space between
instead imported

exploited
cameras on him
crime

The significance of the red circled phrases is at this point uncertain (and could very well be a red herring, as we've seen to a degree admittedly in Eldritch Errors, IIRC)

Edit: Moved and tagged. -SpaceBass

Looks good the bruce...

I'm starting to notice several words mis-spelled, I'll keep looking into it to see if it means anything.

Email on the "Remembering Gina" site: storiesSPLATrememberinggina.org
Tipline at "We Are the Answer" site: http://www.wearetheanswer.org/submit.aspx

Also: on the Gotham National Bank Locations page, we can probably piece the map photos of ATM/bank locations to create a semi-workable map of Gotham.

Gotham Police threat level is currently at Yellow: "Elevated".

I tried sending a blank email to letterstotheeditorSPLATthegothamtimes.com, and got this auto-reply:

Quote:
Dear Contributor:

Thank you for submission. Although we cannot run all letters we receive, please be assured that we read all letters. If we do use your letter in an upcoming edition of The Gotham Times, we may edit it for space considerations. We appreciate your letters and hope that you will continue to submit to us. And thank you for your support of The Gotham Times.

Sincerely,

The Editors

So, nothing interesting there as of yet. I also tried filing a report against James "Jim" Gordon at wearetheanswer.org, but no reply yet.

Okay, just got my newspapers in the mail Very Happy

I noticed at the SHH! boards, that somebody had said something about another person's name being under their shipping label. I thought nothing of it at the time, but there's CLEARLY a name and address printed underneath my shipping label. I doubt it means anything, but just thought I'd throw that out there.

The only mis-spelled word I've been able to confirm from my hardcopy to the online version is in the Playboy Bruce Wayne article:

Hardcopy: "it's almost like Nero fiddling while Rome Byrns"

Online: "it's almost like Nero fiddling while Rome Burns"

Why would they spell "burns" wrong???

considering the hardopy has the error, I'm guessing someone caught the mistype and fixed it for the online. U and Y are next to each other.

This is the only location I see on the website. Are there more somewhere? Anyway, I put it together for a map of part of Gotham.

That's one of the eight links you can click on that give you eight different parts of the city.
