Can anybody read the letters above "Anabel^", which are hidden with black ink?

EDIT: I magnified the image and found the first letter is N.

The name above Mabel/Anabel/whatever looks like it starts with an N. I just googled up a list of Greek names starting with N and I got Nelma, meaning 'light.' Coincidentally, I got found another list of names from different languages with that same meaning and Lucia was on it. Razz The blocked out name might not be Nelma, but it's a possibility! Another possibility is that it's not even a name, oops.

If "node" means artifact, you can pick up Ch.16, can't you?

You bet your bottom dollar! I live on the NJ side of the river, right over the Walt Whitman, but I'm 3 blocks from the river.

I just told my wife that if we find out about a Philly artifact and I'm at work, that I'm going to 'go home sick' and get myself to the location ASAP.

I'm thinking Mabel, after checking it out at 400%. BUT Mabel doesn't mean 'giver of light'. It comes from 'Amabel' and means 'loveable'.

I'm also thinking that the scratched out name begins rather with 'Th'. The only Greek names I could come up with that start with those letters are:
Thalia (which I originally thought it was): to blossom
Theia: goddess
Thekla: glory of god
Themis: law of nature, divine law
Theo()a: (something of) god.

I did catch that Apollo, patron of the Oracle at Delphi, was categorically known as the 'Giver of Light'. Might that tie in?

In case this is important at all, I have here the translation for the back of the postcard:
Quote:
Parallel Geography
When we run in the labyrinth of this world, we should know where we are in the other worlds.
My equipment is here in this world: N 41 degrees 14.172, 80 degrees 48.7624
Rakhee has calculated that we are also here: N 48 degrees 8.39994, E011 degrees 34.8
And here: N 43 degrees 37.1994 E001 degrees 27
And here: N 35 degrees ~41, W 0 degrees 36
And here: N 43 degrees 4.452, W089 degrees 54.6
Our calculations are, for now, imprecise-- we depend only on what Micha sees when he/she can
run in the labyrinths in the flawlines (?). We are not yet sure about what we see, nor if we
are asocciating the points of alignment correctly.
Never mind, I didn't see Technizard's edited post in the first page...
The amount of confusion is annoying me...why must it be so complicated ARG

Looks to me like it says:

Male; Greek name; meaning Giver of Light

Yes, of course she is lighting his pipe. . . she is a "giver of light"

I was trying to find another image of the post card, (one without the name scratched out) and found one in the same series http://www.stamps-auction.com/names-meanings-mary-hebrew-bitterness-1907-postcard-for-sale-68997 not the same card, but at least I can stop worrying about that weird image now: it's just a pun.

I think the first letter of the name is an N, as someone else said before, but can't get what the other letters are : /

About the long post in Diego's forum, it's the story of how Monica found the postcard, if you need it I could translate it.

I want your translation!

It's me who said N before in this thread. As seen in "Names and their Meanings", the top-right end of N is upper than the top-left end. But I can't identify the other letters, either.

I blew up the postcard (that sounds funny Razz) and picked out the pixels I could see that were coloured red from the scribbled out name. Then I inverted it and picked out a few more. Here's what I got.

Definitely an 'N'. What else can we see?

You all are doing a great job in trying to read the name which is scratched out. But I guess that not the scratched out name is that important. I think "Anabel^" or whatever is a more imprtant hint as it is handwritten.

Has someone an idea whos name this should be or why Jorge (I guess Jorge has written this postcard) has put this name on front of the postcard?

Greek-origin names Nellis, Nitsa and Nora seem to mean light.
Greek-origin Nellie means "the bright one". This name seems to match the image best.

EDIT: Nellie also has the meaning light, and its origin Helen means torch light of helios (sun).

Tenchizard, in addition to emailing you, Monica posted to the FTLR forum. I'm not sure if the body of her email text was similar to this or not, but it this has some more information in it:
Quote:
Re: Monica, Alfredo y Jorge.

Mi tía me miraba emocionada.

Re: Monica, Alfredo and Jorge.
I later arrived at house from my aunt a little from the decided thing because with the nerves it had left the list me with the things that it had to look for, and I had to return to my house when it already was in the platform of the meter. And it gave much fear me to make wait for it because perhaps that caused that my aunt was not as amiable as the last time.

Luckily, it seemed that it followed contents with me and who somehow she had reconciled with me (So so far, with this investigation already I have gained the affection of my aunt thanks to you)
As it did not want to bother much and she were quite nervous to begin to look for, I went directly to the grain. I taught the photos to him of the 6 amnesic ones, but it did not recognize any. Later I was enumerating him the things that you commented to me, to see if they said something to him, and so that it helped to look for me. It did not remember anything of labyrinths, neither of Greek things, did not know what was esperanto, nor had either seen nothing similar to a newspaper. It was already going to give to me by won when I commented to him

"and the Western Maryland Railway Company?

"That that is"

As it did not have nor idea of English I had to show it writing in the paper. While it read with its glasses to see close by, I commented to him:

"a company of trains, or something of trains sounds to you"

Pensativa was had left a good short while and then it said to me...

"Huy, if, now that you say it, memory on that it had that writing by outside. Many years ago, when he still lived, it was cleaning the office of Alfredo. As it used to accumulate many papers, once in a while entered and threw to the sweepings many of the old and unsuitable things. Memory which I found that on, and as it had dot of being very old, I threw it with the rest of the things. Then it passed Alfredo and vió. Nerviosísimo was put and much with me got upset "As it is happened to throw this without asking to you" said to me. Soon it gathered it with well-taken care of and it returned it to keep in his site."

My aunt watched to me moved.

"If it were so important for him, surely that he is something of which you are looking for young"

The heart almost me dá an upset. I asked to him if it remembered where he was that on, and it responded to me that yes.

"I saw that it kept it in that archivist, and although I have not returned to touch it, not if he would change it of place. I never gave too much importance him that on. He thought that it would be an as an older person chiflado odd habit "

Suddenly he invaded the fear to me of which on no longer he was there. He would have to shake all the papers of that office? I removed the archivist and I began to look for.

Then the ví. On yellowish with Western Maryland Railway written Company!

I embraced to my aunt giving joy jumps. I opened it with care, because it seemed very old, and began to remove its content and to put it on the table. Mother mine, I cannot explain to you with words which was feeling at that moment. I realized of which this is something very great. That he is real. And that I need all you. Without a doubt my uncle grandfathers was not able to find out nothing concrete because he did not count on the aid of all the planet... we yes! Thanks for your ideas to look for things, and enhorabuena to Tenchizard, that suggested the one to look for things of the Western Maryland Railway Company. You guessed right of plenary session!

So I went to house of a friend to make digital copies from the content from on. I have gone it to Diego so that it raises it and thus we pruned to deduce between all the meaning.
