[SPEC/RESEARCH] Paliki Peninsula in Kefalonia = Ithica?
The location of the cave of the Great Earth Shaker...

Never to stick to one topic, I had a closer look through Eli's podcasts. I decided to take a closer look at the setting of his research in his second one, The Ancient Game Keepers.

Turns out this specific part of Kefolnia is believed by some to be the ancient location of Ithaca, the homeland of Odysseus, as described in the Homeric epic, The Odyssey. The idea IS hotly contested, but an interesting connection all the same...

For more info (very one-sided), check out the following Youtube vid, about 8 minutes long. Oh yeah, they also discuss the 1953 earthquake!

About Ithaca, though, some historians believe that 'Ithaca' was just the Greek word for 'home' - actually, someone's 'ithaca' is their ideal home. My Ancient History teacher rocks for trivia.
