NEW Cloverfield title theory?! This could be the answer we've ALL been waiting for!!! Ok, I DID use the search feature on this one, but trout me to hell if It's been discussed before (The search feature really sucks by the way...)
BEAR WITH ME ON THIS PLEASE!
Alright, so the wife went to New York recently and took a picture of, what looks, to her and I, like the bridge Rob and Beth hide under at the end of the film.
Now here's where some people will shut me out, cause I also couldn't find ANYWHERE online which bridge it is EXACTLY that R&B hide under, and what it's called. BUT bear with me here, just because they shot the scene under a specific bridge, doesn't mean it isn't meant to be a different one, which leads me to this discovery:
First a picture of the bridge my wife took:
Now being pretty sure that IS the bridge R&B end up under, I decided to dig up some info which led me to a website informing me that THAT particular bridge is called: The Trefoil
A "Trefoil" is a design that features 3 lobes, like a clover !!!!!!
Here's the link to the bridge name, and meaning of the design of the bridge:
http://www.forgotten-ny.com/STREET%20SCENES/arches/arches.html
(Just go down the page a little until you see the Trefoil bridge.)
Now call me crazy, but if the bridge R&B end up under really is the Trefoil, then we have the reason for the title plain as day!
The camera was found under the rubble (or rock "field") of the Trefoil (Clover)!!!!!!
What do you think?!
I mean, even if the bridge they REALLY shot under WASN'T the Trefoil due to space, or shooting problems, I'm willing to bet that in the script they are meant to end up under the Trefoil Bridge!!!!!!
[/url]
UPDATE: Upon reading the link page further I noticed that the "Glade Bridge" also looks like it could be bridge R&B hide under, and if it is, it ALSO has Quatrefoil designs all over it which are four-lobed designs, which are ALSO a form of CLOVER!!!!!

While this is a genius find, it's unlikely that the movie was named like that.
5/5 for effort

didnt Abrams (or Reeves?) say in an interview that the name "Cloverfield" was a mistake and just the codename originally. and it didn't mean anything.
I'm almost positive it's just because of the name of the street in Los Angeles and NOTHING ELSE. right?? this was cleared up a long time ago...

Props for the effort, but as stated above, the bridge is called "Grayshot Arch" and located near West 61st in Centeral Park.
See this link for pics and vid that was caught back in August of final scene filming by Unfiction poster "nooneimportant77".

It does not appear the bridge being filmed is the same as the two pictures posted by OP.
I don't know anything about Centeral Park, but there has to be a lot of these types of overpasses and bridges.

That's actually wrong. In the podcast interview with Drew Goddard he said that he had heard something like that and said that it was false and that there is a significant reason for it being called "Cloverfield."

Hey all,
The bridge was, indeed, called greyshot bridge. If you look it up, it's really close to Columbus Circle, where beth's appartment building is... ummm was...
Great research, though.

The meaning probably evolved as time wore on and meant different things to each one of them.

After digging around a little I did manage to find some info on the Grayshot Arc. It is indeed the bridge R&B hide under... Though, interestingly enough, I can't seem to find much detailed info on the arc.
But I will say, MOST of the arcs and bridges in Central Park have a "clover" design somewhere around them... I'm wondering if that connection is on purpose.
Oh well, back to the drawing board...

There is a plethora of interviews with Goddard, Reeves, and Abrams about this.
Anyway the original title was supposed to be "Monstrous" until the poster was leaked right before Comic-Con last July. Abrams was supposed to make this announcement but it was leaked first so he casually joked
"Do you think we'd call it Monstrous? No" I thought he was being sarcastic about the whole thing.
Anyway, there are no clues in the title Cloverfield. Its just the Case desgnated name.
Also this is defintely

here is the bridge rob and beth hid under:
http://www.centralpark2000.com/database/greyshot_arch.html
If you watch Nooneimportant's set videos he is filming from the other side of those pics.
Speaking of the Arch they hid under. Isn't the new Cloverfield Game called Greyshot? coincidence?

Actually Superfuzzzz, I read through that thread, there's no mention of my theory. Therefore my theory does NOT deserve a trout.

I won't debate you on that, but there has been many threads about speculation of the title. That is why I trouted.
Your theory is interesting and valid so no harm no foul.
