I don't think there's anything to see at kenorland.org--my guess based on the the image filenames is that it's a personal site belonging to a dude named Ken.

(edit: WHOIS appears to confirm that. Nothing to see here, move along. Smile )

Is now called Columbia, but I suspect it was called Nuna at the time the Codex was supposed to be written.

FWIW, so far the earlist mention of Nuna I've found was a book published in 1994..

*put-upn sigh* Yet another timeline inconsistency, then. Jorge et. al. must have had some nifty time travel devices and pretty damn good internet connection. [/wit]

Seems like if we could get the maps to scale with each other and with the continents at the right latitudes and longitudes, we could begin to work out areas where synchronising labyrinths could be used. Overlay the maps and see where they have land in the same place. We could also work backwards from where the Six appeared to worlds they could have came from.

Dunno how accurate this map is, but something like this:

Seems Nuna is also called Nena, there's more hits for that, back to at least 1986. This book has a map of it on page 92.

My story and I'm sticking to it

About 1:30 pm today, Ariock pinged me to tell me that the San Francisco artifact had been identified. I had just checked the oompa-loompa-puter that morning for BOISE/SAN/FRANCISCO, and it hadn't been updated at that point, so I was all, HEY. But I quickly got over it, because I had a mission. To accomplish. ASAP.

Ft. Mason
Boat
Chained chest
Fake rock

I used to go to both Upper and Lower Fort Mason quite often, but hadn't been for a few years. When I thought of boats in that area, all I could think of was the marina, which is actually just outside of the boundary of Fort Mason.

After asking my boyfriend, Tony, if he'd drive me to Fort Mason (he is well aware of my ARG playing and, while he doesn't participate himself, he thinks they are cool) and a little explanation of the deed, I said to him, "The clues are: Fort Mason, boat," and before I could continue, he said, "I know exactly where that is." He said it wasn't obvious or easy to find, and then suddenly I remembered the stern of a ship butted up against a retaining wall across from Building E in Lower Fort Mason. OMG that had to be it, I thought, in my enthusiastic thinking way.

So, after taking care of some actual paying work-related business, off we went. I had to drop off some maps at the office, but that was on the way and took very little time.

We drove into the Fort Mason parking lot and around the perimeter of the lot to the "boat." As we approached it, behind several barricades that surrounded it, we could see the partial ship all shored up to keep it from collapsing, and the "chained chest" in plain sight, so it was clear we were at the right place.

The funny thing was that there were four KEEP OUT signs posted—more than seemed necessary, especially since I had no intention of keeping out. There was also a small rectangular sign that said "National Park Service GGNRA" on it, to let you know who was in charge around here, I suppose. Ooooooo, I'm scaaaared.

After snapping a shot of the scene, I handed the camera to Tony and he took the remaining photos. I walked through a small opening between two of the barricades and opened the chest. I'd like to say I picked a lock or said abracadabra or something to open it, but it was just your standard lifting of the lid. Inside it was clear of debris and was empty, save for a fake rock that was centered against the back wall of the chest. I picked it up and closed the chest lid, so as not to arouse suspicion. Or something. The artifact was retrieved around 2:30 pm PDT.

After getting a coffee at Peet's, Tony drove off to work and I took the streetcar home, which took much longer than it should have, but that's the way it goes. Or doesn't go sometimes, if we're talking about MUNI.

Link to pictures again because you can't have too many repetitive links

Cool, Pita! Thanks for the great photos!

What I don't understand is how that chest, and the fake rock, have remained undisturbed for the past 88 years...Must be all those Keep Out signs.

Never underestimate the power of the Keep Out sign!

Reminds me of a verse from Woody Guthrie's classic song, This Land Is Your Land:

As I went walking I saw a sign there
And on the sign it said "No Trespassing"
But on the other side it didn't say nothin'
That side was made for you and me

Yes it seems like the Sophias has to calculate places all over the different worlds. Seems to be a real hard job.

(So can I still change my strength to somewhat else than Sophia? Ariadne has changed her strength too Smile )
