Ha. I suppose all theories are equal in worthlessness until proven one way r another. HA, just kidding.
Although it is real though, I kinda have to agree about the Amnion after thinking about it.
The actual Splinter/Pod thing looks REALLY synthetic and not natural.
Granted that may partly be due to the manga-ized version of it, but either way...
I still stand by my theory though... only because it makes sense to me HA.
Another thought... Since Amnion is found only in mammals, birds, and reptiles, is it safe to say that the monster is a reptile or some really strange combination thereof?

I just happened to see a commercial yesterday showing all different kinds of flowers and one (before it opened/bloomed) looked exactly like the pod. I wouldn't throw out the possibilty it is natural and not synthetic. Nature can make some strange and beautiful things.

Somewhere in Japan. But I suppose that's obvious and you were looking for a more specific location.
Feel free to ignore me.

page 37 of episode 2.
"stop it at all costs!! it moves in the direction of tokyo!!" is screamed by a military commanders as the monster is charging through the sea. it then shows an image of the tokyo coastline.

its so lame they interconnect the storyline to Japan. Haven we all got so many Godzilla/Japan thinggy?
Why not we have the Cloverfield Monster focus more in our own Native USA than being an Asian. I think its just Dumb.

The manga isn't necessesarily connected to the American ARG. It's a special thing just for the Japanese audience. There's nothing "dumb" about that. :/

canonicity On a somewhat related note, I was reading LostPedia today and came up with an interesting opinion about what's canon or not from the producers of LOST.
Quote:
The issue of canon is very tricky. If it's in the show, it's canon. For the remainder of the material, it depends on how much time and influence the executive staff have to assure the quality of all output.
This was said in reference to the LOST video game which although it was very well tied into the story is consider non-canon by the creators of the show. It all depends on what the main storytellers want to keep in their story. Assuming that JJ and Bad Robot share that definition, it casts the manga into a canon state of "undetermined".
Personally, there's a lot going on in the manga that I just can't imagine being canon. It's just too weird for American audiences to keep up with, and it just doesn't fit with everything that's been said in interviews and on the DVD. But that's just my opinion

I agree. This makes me wonder if JJ or Matt Reeves gave them an outline to the manga writers on the creatures origins or if the manga writer completely made up their own thing. Which I'm guessing they did.
