I doubt it's DVD content. That would be lame game.
Of course, it would also be lame if it's an ARG site. The name anyways. Lame name. For the game name.

It is not almost impossible to make a site accessible to only those with a DVD. If the DVD has even something as simple as a URL with a unique token to pass upon requesting to connect, it's very easy to do this with basically no active content on the DVD at all. Of course someone could quickly capture the token and spread it around - if it's NOT unique. If it is unique, and they are even remotely smart about such 'bonus DVD buyer only' content, they'd make you register the first time you connect, and receive an alternate means to authenticate to the site - the DVD token would be basically a one-time only affair.
If the site's apparent status doesn't change after the 22nd, I wouldn't be surprised if only the DVDs had such a way to access the site.

I think that cloverfield files will be ran by John Garriette. He's probably getting so many e-mails right now. He's probably gonna be, ok, look, here's what I got.
It's probably how they're going to bring newcomers and ARG players to the same place.

that may be their way to get back at all the bootleggers, who are into the ARG and just HAVE to know more

possibly even an access code along with the scene menu like most dvd's have inside. that way when the side goes up. we didnt know that there was anything we could input on the main page. so no one could possibly break in.

I'm starting to think that the mysterious sword symbol is of Garritties special squad. Somebody who has the DVD has shown that the DEV case ALSO has the symbol, and the sticker on the case says property of the US government. That means the GOVT knows what the symol means.

I like that idea, and the website is their "home base" for all their info, maybe him or his special group will be involved in the sequel.

I got the same error in a site that was attached to a concert DVD. It had special online extra material which was BS after all.
