Will there be a Uncut/Unrated version of Cloverfield? I remember reading an interview with Matt Reeves and Drew Goddard (i think) and Drew was saying how he wrote and Matt filmed Cloverfield to be a hard R, but Paramount had it changed to suit PG-13.
I remember reading how you saw Marlena's exploded body, and Hud's chewed off top half, and a few other disgusting things.
I was disappointed to see that there was no Unrated/Uncut DVD coming out on April 22, so do you think if they ever release a Blu-Ray version it will go on that?

No. I think Goddard envisioned it as an R-rated movie, but I don't believe Reeves filmed it that way, so there is nothing "unrated" to release.
In the deleted scenes section of the DVD, they show an alternate view of Marlena exploding, but it's not much different.

I don't know about the trailer, but a tentative teaser TV promo spot was aired 20 minutes before the Masters began airing on CBS. I uploaded it to youtube HERE.

I don't think we'll ever see a blu-ray version as the movie was filmed with a home camera and would look too grainy or not "blu-ray" enough to warrant a blu-ray release. Plus, Blu-Ray players can play DVD's.

Im pretty sure they didnt film the movie with a home camera, they just wanted the idea of it being shot on a home camera to be there. If they shot it with a home camera it wouldnt even be good enough quality to hit theatres, no matter how much editing you do on it. lol

I remember listening to a very lengthy interview from Drew Goddard about his writing for both "LOST" and "Cloverfield." I also remember him talking about getting very, very angry with Paramount for them wanting to make it PG-13. Specifically, it dealt with whether or not to employ the F-bomb in Jason's speech to Rob just before the monster shows up.
Personally, I'm with him on this one. The speech is powerful enough without the F-bomb, but I think it would have appealed more to the demographic that "Cloverfield" was aimed for and would've seemed less cheesy to the average moviegoer.
The interview's somewhere here in this particular forum...maybe I'll get off my butt and go find the link...
