sorry. nighthawk.. great idea but the further removed from the PM control, the forum become just another place for oog chatter..
i've been in for a while but i'm officially dropping even reading along with this one.
the french-english polarization is (to my mind) quite contrary to the nature of ARGs, at least international ARGs. (that is, ARGs that have opened theirselves up across the internet to multiple countries) I've followed (alas not played) german/english args (90%german 10%english) that were better constructed and more responsive.

i have no problems translating (via the googlator), and making new friends who speak french that would have helped out. ( waves to Mlle. S. ).
For those who tire of 'translating" everything, you should try this Foxfire add on called Fox Lingo. just the click of two buttons on the toolbar will translate an entire webpage from many different languages via your choice of internet language translators. It may not be a perfect translation (especially with mobster type and french-canadian idioms and such, but i find the google translator comes VERY close, or at least close enough for comprehension.)

good luck!!!

Well I'm hoping the PM will chime in; I've already contacted them.

The Fox Lingo thing is cool. Tx.
The problem I have tho, is that it will not translate and entire page, when in the yahoo group.....because a password is required. So I log into the group page, then click translate page, and I get sent back to sign in again. So, if I want anything translated, it has to be copied, then pasted. 200+ messages per day gets old fast. Then when it's translated, a sentence like "the dog is chasing the cat" comes out like: Chasing cat was the dog....which makes Advil richer and me grumpier.

I signed up on your new page Nighthawk, it looks great. One note: if you place anyones name in the referred spot, it will not let you register. And I believe the little box of letters (security from bots signing up...srry, dont know what its called) is case sensitive or I need an eye doctor sooner than I thought Smile

I dont think the PM has any problem with different groups, as long as we go back to the main HQ to get missions, and give our answers when due. Our boss has said this (IN FRENCH) and that the americans will be needed for things in Dallas and Austin, (ALSO IN FRENCH! lol) and he has since never once translated anything in English.....Feel the love!

New Forum
both FBI and CN

A new forum has been set up to help us french-challenged folks, thanks to Nighthawk.

This does not replace the main HQ, nor does it replace any other forums set up. All are welcome, but please keep the posts in english when possible. Both team's forums are located here

http://rivard.brainclouds.info/

After you register, and validate email...you can then access your particular group by using the password that was provided by your underboss/chief in the email you received from the swatteam. (note*this is not the password you use when you register. This is only used to access separate teams)

It is my understanding that Brodie has also set up a new site....but I have not been informed of where this is yet. Everyone's fear is that we will become too divided, but in my opinion, sometimes smaller groups can be twice as effective. We can be members of as many groups as our team sets up, and still communicate throughout the groups when important information needs to be brought forth.

OK so we have, The Rivard Forum, Nighthawk's Forum, Brodie's Forum and a Yahoo forum? Are there any others out there? I am trying my best to keep up but right now I am not even sure where to go to talk about the game. I think we are still working on Mission 1, but I havent seen anywhere to "submit" the answers. Can someone point me in the right direction of where I can talk to the CN team openly about the game? (In English preferably or least where people are posting bi lingual)

You are about the only one that translates your posts L'attrape.....and the other 99% is in french. And even when its run through a translator, it doesn't come out as english grammer most of the time. One post comes to mind that said: for english.....learn french.

A separate section for english would be welcomed by many.

I'm about ready to drop out of this ARG. Why?

I got a C average in 3 1/2 years of high school French about 20 years ago. Translation: I can pick up the gist of many of the posts but on Yahoo forum I've looked at about 80 posts and only one was in English. I try my best to translate my posts for everybody or specifically to a Francophone in French and I find it hard to believe that in a bilingual province like Quebec more authors can't do what I do - sum up a full paragraph in your native language with 1 or 2 sentences in the other language OR someone give us a synopsis every 50 posts or so.

We are supposed to be Cosa Nostra v. FBI. I think it is interesting having two teams against each other - but the PMs set up insecure fora not once BUT TWICE?!

What the hell are we supposed to do? We've researched 10 question for how long now? So far the only action is in Montreal and in the future Dallas/Ft Worth/Houston. I was in New Orleans for a couple days hoping to get something (the whole Oswald connection to the Big Easy) but now I'm back home in LA (Los Angeles not Louisiana). As it is looking, I won't have to move my fat butt to contribute at all.

This has got to be one of the more frustrating ARGs I've ever been in.

FBI Forums, just in case

I'll add the FBI team's forums, just in case there's any late comers.

http://rivardfbi.mybb3.org

You have to register, then answer a challenge question and then you'll be given full access with a correct answer.

As one of the English speakers who does their best to translate to French for everyone on the fora, I just got smacked down on the Yahoo site for asking for help with translations from French to English.

From now on, I am using the English only site exclusively.

To the PM's, if you don't address this issue, I suspect that Cosa Nostra is going to lose most of your American contacts so good luck convincing the Quebecois to travel to Texas for your ARG.

I'm curious if the FBI is suffering similar issues.

Well, if Cosa Nostra loses all of their american players, they lose. Simple. And they were even warned by M.Paul. They have done nothing to keep english speaking people in the group....in fact, they have insulted us more than once.

I am strickly staying at rivard.brainclouds.info

Which has some new info there...hint hint. Go check it out.

I would like to have address to Brodie's site. Apparently that information was only given to three ppl?

I have to agree with coffe, I have not felt the least bit welcomed or even wanted by the non english speakers. I am staying with the brainclouds site also.

This is the funniest translation so far:

Also you should register on the forum secure if you have the gout.

____________

MPaul mentioned entering answers. Does anyone know where?

Translated:
There is a code to get the answers ...
It will already find the system of this code, and then enter your responses ...
