[UPDATE] Aquapolis Incidentlogs Locked

Catherwood just noticed in #matrix that it seems the sysadmins at The Aquapolis finally realized the incident logs were wide open. Smile http://theaquapolis.com/incidentlogs now presents a username/password dialog (with the realm "safesys").

Also, I do not know if this was brought up before, but the "rolling" picture of the web cam in the "status" section of their flash is now steady. We also get a picture of the "Subpen Airlock" in the same area. The news section also has a piece of news dated 11/02/2003 with a picture of the control room that I do not recall seeing before (but I may not have been paying attention). Note that the control room picture has a screen shot that looks much like the incidentlog ones.

No way... oh my god, this is so exciting! Where is trip? She's the best at cracking passwords; I'm pretty sure the user might be Scratch. And I haven't heard anything about the webcam stopping "scrolling". And how ridiculous is it that as soon as I look at the control room's "monitor", I recognize that they are looking at the Kithnos level?
--------------------EDIT----------------------------------
And how weird is it that they'd say "A-OK" after that was said in the phonecall?

Also, not entirely sure about this one, but we kinda thought that the "drowning guy pictures" were photos of a webcam security monitor. Evidentally, Aquapolis didn't have one before, as "the control room... has become operational". Does that mean those were definitely taken somewhere else (Metacortex)?

Notice that the news post mentions that SafeSys makes sure everything remains A-OK! Just like the end of that voicemail from holloween.

Sorry if this has been mentioned, but I havn't seen it.

I think some of them (like janitor and preventative mechanic, and others might have been filled on Oct. 31). catherwood, such a great catch on them passwording the log files now!

What are we supposed to get out of the subpen now? The picture replaced "Amargos observation deck". I mean, we already knew it's for submarines, and it's always "closed"... The only thing I can think of is the lights on the "ceiling" look somewhat like the lights reflected in the "drowning guy" pictures, although it doesn't make sense...

NOOO! It happened again! I'm asleep when the updates happen!

Anyway, one thing that hasn't been mentioned is that the webcam has been fixed. And I think the right most picture is new. Not sure.

Don't know the significance of that. But anyway...

In an eerie kind of way, couldn't the job listings change imply that the 'drowning man' was the 'SUB Maintenance Mechanic' ?

the size of the site has decreased considerably...now around 800k, as compared to the 1.9mb before.

[edit] this might have been mentioned: from the 02/11/03 news update, we see that safesys will make sure everything remains A-OK...so we now know 100% that on the fone call, the computer womens voice saying "everything is A-OK" was in fact the computer system, and we now know its called SafeSys...reminds me (as ive said before) of the computer system in resident evil...it would seem that when the man was stuck drowning, the system locked the doors and let him drown, probably while playing "everything is A-OK"...seems like metacortechs systems are a bit sinister lol [/edit]

Please someone look at the picture of the construction cam. I am sure I see letters appearing on the left hand upper rock wich shows most variation in the picture. I see letters like M and H and also a 3 and also wingding type variations. Maybe I am going crazy but it is so noticable to me... I cannot capture it well because it is constantly moving and it doesn't enlarge well. I have tried anyway. Please let me know if I have lost me ruddy marbles..

I'm not sure...there's a lot of variation with the light patterns, but I can't tell if it's random or not. So much of this game has been code and patterns...

Interesting aside - when I right clicked and turned off the loop and set it to play, the subpen pic changed back to the Amargos observation deck and the window backgrond changed from white to black. I'm going to let the construction cam sit for a while to see if anything changes.

Don't know how I managed not to let this get to me for two whole days, but now I'm just obsessed.

The drowning guy pictures went up on Oct. 25 (and I guess we suspected they might have been unauthorized). Then some stuff happened around Halloween (mainly with the webcam), but nothing changed in the incident logs themselves. All of a sudden they get locked on Nov. 9 - roughly a month after they should have become locked, and 2 weeks after they REALLY should have become locked. Why? Was there a new incident on the 9th? And why didn't they get protected after Halloween, when Metacortex figured out there was an information leak via phonecalls? And where are the clues that might lead us to the login?

Looking at the "Status" frame, I really don't know what we're supposed to get out of this. It's nice to see the SubPen walkway - I often tried to visualize that perpetually "closed" door (which I think leads to the Delta module as opposed to the SubPen, but that's neither here nor there). ArchGod noticed that there is a security monitor there, so I wondered if it could the one that reflected the lights in the drowning guy's pictures, but the lights are different.

The "control room" picture - wth is that in front of the monitors? It's not a human head, and if it's a chair, then it's really weird. Also, it's impossible to read what's on the second monitor.

Looking at the news update, I don't really see anything that might be a clue to the login (like "incidentlogs" on Metacortex that led KaG to discovery of the directory).

So, who can have a login there?
The "project lead" quoted on the news?
Stone Jeffreys (that's probably a big stretch)?
Andreus Markopoulos? He is the guy mentioned in the news about Oct. 8 incident. His name also sounds like "Marko Polo", this 13th century traveler/merchant from Venice, but he traveled mostly in Asia; and I just don't see how that could help anyway.
Does MLO have a login at SafeSys? After all, that "a-ok" in the phonecall was addressed to him.
Who is Dimitri Moraitopoulos? He went to Switzerland, probably with Beth and James; could he also be Aquapolis-connected?
Scratch? Did he hack Aqaupolis on Halloween? And did he upload the drowning guy's pictures before that?

Also, can anybody translate the Greek and see if it's different?

Great speculation there Yanka!

If we are meant to break in (which would be a stretch since it is supposed to be a secure system, but possible since this is a game), then there must be some clue somewhere, most likely in some of the aquapolis information, and possibly the Halloween phone call.

I've been looking for overly-used words or phrases, and two things pop out at me: the words "control" and "a-ok." A-ok is used in the phone call and also in the news story on aquapolis about the installation of the system (but, it could just be saying that so we know that the voice on the phone call is really the computer). But either word would be so awful for a security system password! Razz

I've thought about many of the same theories as Yanka... especially how the phone call relates to Scratch and mlo. It seems this phone call may be a key.

We haven't been able to transcribe the entire call yet right? There is a full version at the netninja web site if someone wants to analyze it again.

For now, I'm going to bed. Wink

Yeah... I am inclined to think that the login would have something to to with Marcus Ormond as well. Perhaps the login id is something like "mrormond" or "misterormond", because that is what the computer (or what we are assuming to be the SafeSys computer) literally says.

Also, with the drowning man pics, I was wondering what the "D-33" means where it says "D-33/DELOS" in the bottom left-hand side. At first, I thought that it might mean something like section 33 in the delta module on delos level. But the sections recorded as being breached in the incident logs are sections 0041-0045.

One more thing... The drowning man pics creep me out enough, but it is even creepier to see that he tried four times to override the seal on the main bulkhead in the delta module. The last time he tried to do so was at 10:26:13. Then, 12 seconds later (at 10:26:25), we see him dead and floating in the last pic. I am really wondering why the delos level is having so much trouble. I tend to believe that this was some sort of setup to kill this man. For what reason, I do not know (Maybe Ormond wanted him dead, and ordered the bulkhead sealed, although that is pure speculation). But I am not sure that I believe that one person accidentally got trapped inside the delta module with the BRAND NEW security system locking him in. With SafeSys being so highly proclaimed as safe, why did it allow the man to drown?

Marco Polo is also a game...played in...a swimming pool.

Where "Marco" is the person who is it, and not allowed to see anything...then the others shout "Polo" and marco has to try and make them it by catching them.

Anyway, prolly of no significance at all, but the swimming pool bit seemed a bit strange

I'm sorry but does someone have these "drowning guy" pictures where I may view them? Or a link to where they were posted? I can't get past the opening password queue on the aquapolis page Confused

I was actually quite surprised when I couldn't find them on Brian's netninja page as he has almost everything else. Nice documentation indeed despite that. Very Happy
