Hey Euchre,

When you refer to double posting, you mean posting the same thing twice right?? im asking because sometimes i post twice, but its always in response to two different things, so what im doing wouldnt really be considered double posting would it??

Double posting is two seperate posts in a row, regardless of addressing more than one person. It is a little tedious, but you can copy and paste from several Reply dialogs where you quote the other person. It is preferable you don't make separate posts because people who follow a topic receive an email for every new post on the topic - and that just adds heavily to the pile. Same is basically true of RSS feeds where possible, which they aren't available here yet by design but will probably when the forum software is next updated.

I do hope they don't let this blog die right where it is basically, sort of like they have done with the TIDOWave site. There is that history though...

i've double posted, just like how euchre said was a no-no, but only when i accidentally post the same thing twice. sometimes my connection is a little fishy... i'll click submit, and it'll go to the whole "someone else posted a reply while you were posting" screen, and then i click submit again, and POOF. double-post.

so i'll edit one of them to be something different, so i don't feel the wrath. Very Happy

and i agree, euchre. if they let this blog die here, it would be pretty sad. they've certainly set it up to be extremely interesting at this point.

I dont even think that the TIDO site is dead man. I just think its taking a little break for now. I bet itll fire back up when the time is right.. N as far as double posting goes, ill try to keep a lid on it as often as possible dude, but im a pretty random guy with random thoughts. But like i said tho, ill try to control that shit as often as humanly possible. U wont haveta yell at me no more, im sure Cool

i agree... if the sites had completely died, what would be the point in them still being there?

the ARG definitely isn't dead. there's many unanswered questions.

mainly being: the sword logo. what is it, and why is it on those sites? they'll at least give us something about that before all is said and done, you know?

i think the sites are there, and purposely ceased most of their activity around 1-18-08 just to let people pour over the film and drool about it all.

tagruato hasn't stopped what they are doing. nor has tido. we'll get something from them at some point.

Why shouldn't the TIDOWave site be idle IG? They lost a lot of people, and Tagruato is after them. I wouldn't be blogging in a situation like that. IPs are traceable after all. Tagruato, on the other hand, should still be going assuming that the timeline is moving forward in real time.

Like I said in a different thread, it would sure be nice if they'd let us know if this was supposed to be post-movie or not. If they are continuing the viral story after NYC, that would be awesome but we're going to be hungry for the aftermath (is Clover alive? are there other monsters? what's the world response? etc). I doubt they'll have the ability or the budget to feed that hunger, and not giving us at least a little bit of that would be a HUGE letdown. On the other hand, if this blog is pre-NYC then it's just a rehash of old events with some new information. Nifty, but like the Star Wars prequels we know how it all ends.

Tagruatos updates have always been few and far in between. As far as TIDO goes though, i would be looking rather soon for a sister website to TIDO or something like that, like an underground website for TIDO members to regroup and meet up at. We all know that they havent stopped regardless of whether or not their home base had been taken over by Tagruato Special Ops. No worries fellas, all of these sites are just takin an indegestion break. They'll either be back, or this whole game will just shut down and cease. I am praying for the first rather than the latter, of course, lol.

The sword logo? Hell, they haven't bothered explaining why fish are pondering cheese, hammers and oven mitts, much less the sword logo.

Not to be negative, but I think the only thing they were ever "doing" was selling Cloverfield movie tickets and DVDs. If and when a sequel starts production, these sites may once again come to life with some entertaining but inscrutable "clues". Actually, I guess the next drops in our bucket will come just prior to the release of the game. But I don't think we're ever going to get the Cloverfield equivalent of a guy in a white lab coat coming out and explaining it all, tying up all our questions with a bow and sending us on our way.

I think the sword logo is just the American govt's way of marking which websites are directly connected to the cloverfield incident. Nothing more, nothing less. We know that the u.s. gov't has control of tido and a few other sites, as they were marked with the DoD logo shortly after jan. 18. All sites with the sword logo are just the govt's way of keeping track of the websites connected in order to carry out an effective and efficient investigation.
I think we (the forum as a whole) are looking into the sword logo way too much.

So, I'm a little tired, but I'm thinkin'

What if Alyse goes to her "midnight rendevous", and something really bad happens, so she has to cut and run. Now, she's in hiding and is afraid to post on her old blog for fear of getting caught (through the IP address?). So she starts a new blog somewhere.

Speculation.

I don't know why people get all nervous about IPs. If you are using a lappy with wireless, you can connect to so many open networks it's not even funny. That IP can still be tracked to a geographical area, but if you choose one that's fairly populous and long distance transportation is readily available, you can be gone by the time they got to where you had been posting. You'd pretty much be like a ghost in the night. There are certainly hackers out there that have been on the road like this and been nearly impossible to trace. If Adrian Lamo had not been open about his identity, I'm sure he could still be out there poking through all sort of things on the internet, and even posting about it at his leisure.

That said, Alyse didn't seem to be that technically adept, and might either be clueless about IPs and be more concerned that her statements might be used to find her if she had gone 'underground' (which is actually a more rational fear). She more likely than not has no clue what an IP is at all. Teddy is the one we know to have the tech savvy, and seems to mostly interact with those with far less skill in that regard (consider Jamie). His compatriots at TIDOWave might be a bit more wary of such concerns, but since they hacked Tagruato's site I'd say they know plenty of ways to get into their blog without being tracked, if they wanted to.

How can anyone be unsure on this? Everything since 1-18-08 has been after the attack, the ARG was very clear on this.

7 myspace sites updated with the pre-party comments.
1 video of an excited party girl heading TO the party, wearing the clothes she was later seen in the video of the attack wearing.

The attack happened during the party referenced by 8 IG sources.
The newest materials (the files meant for Alyse) reference the governments files for thier post attack investigation.

The attack has already happened in game, can we please end all the speculation that it hasn't?

I always thought they were talking about Chuai. I sort of assumed the timeline was out of whack.

Not sure how you mean that, but the Chuai attack has also already occured, it happened about a week after Rob and Beth's date, and about 2-3 weeks before MGP hit land looking for a cameraman to snack on.

At work so I'm not referencing the exact dates.

Lmao with the reference to a "No Prize" earlier. Took me back to the eighties and my days of reading GI Joe comics, when they used to give out no prizes. Thanks for the blast from the past

And all you people gloating about Veteran status, bow down before my Unfettered status ( cue evil laugh ). Just playing around
