But...I thought all this was communicated with Ariadne up front? (See the first page of this thread.) It's not that we're actual double-agents, right? We're just trying to get info. to help the agons, and I think she was told that last week?

Yes, that's right...it was actually her idea in the first place.

But, that shouldn't stop people from contacting Theo who actually want to help him, of course. Razz

It worked as expected. MrJ (I'm assuming) has made the first contact post and I deciphered it with the tool. Nice poetic flair btw... I'm going to give him a heart attack and send a contact email.. hopefully he'll check the hidden account first before reading this, see the (1) in the Inbox and get that adrenaline rush... Twisted Evil

Considering its length, I hope that Theo doesn't wind up having to decode it by hand, and that they develop a tool as well.. If not, good, it'll serve them right to figure out a puzzle..

Yep - that's me, and I'm GUTTED I checked here before the email account - I totally missed out on the rush. Sad

The Bacon Maker was brilliant, thanks Weezel, and made creating the message so easy! I found it easiest to type both the hidden message and the post in Word first so I could check the letter/word counts to make sure they were going to work. As for the length, I had exactly the same line of thought as you - either they'll sort out a tool, or just have to do the hard yakka!

Per Weezel's meta comment, Mr. J, did you send the send the tool to Ariadne? (Or Weezel, do you want to?)

As per Lhall's reply, this is a double-double agent mission, and YES, Ariadne not only instigated it, but is also been kept posted through the whole process. I've given her a heads up about the message and Weezel's Bacon Maker, and she knows that she's got to keep 100% quiet about it all for it to work...

Only one email so far, from Weezel, but will keep y'all posted. Smile

I just read that message at Ariadne's forum thinking: who the heck is this guy? Laughing Way to go sektano! Worshippy

T_T

Nobody listened to me about being a double agent.

I suppose there's only going to be one agent? Because if not, PLEASE, I would really like to be the other.

You can relax, fencer - we're starting with just one point of contact until we've got a clear line of communication with Theo. The original note for him was signed "La Secto" - "The Sect", and sektano simply means "person belonging to a Sect".

As has been stated before in this thread, the first mission is to find a way to communicate with Theo directly, rather than through coded messages. Once that happens, we'll probably be able to find a way to allow all those interested in being double-double agents a chance to do so.

So don't give up hope. The game is afoot, but this subplot has only just begun! Very Happy

And thanks Jasper, great to hear it's getting the response I hoped for - it was a really fun post to write!

Don't worry about that. As long as the cover message is long enough (and it will tell you if its not), don't bother to count the rest of the spaces.

Here's why... if there are extra spaces, every 5 of them will produce an A, any less than 5 will be ignored.

SOYOURMESSAGEWILLHAVEPADDINGAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

That's perfectly acceptable in cryptography. If you have a choice in the letter, you might pad with X or Q or some other not often used character. But you use padding to ensure that your plaintext is the proper length needed. In some ciphers, it might only be a letter or two of padding needed, but it's the same thing.

It becomes obvious on the decipher that those additional characters are ignored...

Yeah, for some reason I was thinking she wanted us to be totally undercover. Sorry about that Elizabeth123.. you were spot on!

So its been a week.. no response on the initial board post, or the message left....

Time to leave another post?

Any word back from Ariadne on the fact that this was initiated? Maybe send her another message? I think she misses some....

Unless... of course... the freaking code that Hitshermark and we found today is his response. I mean seriously... urg. I'm going to hate the letters ABBA for a while now.

Maybe we're supposed to decode some message in the press releases from the new Mama Mia film. It's not ABBA but the 70's pop rock band Abba.

Looks like the contact with Thermentia (http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=25459) was a success. She references the London artifact and our found message, as well as using our double spaced code for a response.

Let's move the discussion over there, since it looks like we have gotten a nibble.

Because I want to update the wiki timeline and I was not involved in the whole "Contact Theo" thing, I have some questions:

1. is it right, we left a note at the London artifact location with the following uncoded text :
Quote:

Theo.

You have our attention, and the Agonothetai have our mistrust.

They were told to find space for their labyrinths. They were told to hide them in plain sight.

We too have found 'space', and we too have hidden it in plain sight.

Look to the source, and study it, as one in London might study the works of Shakespeare to determine their authorship.

We will contact you soon.

La Sekto

2. Did someone left a coded bacon massage somewhere? And if yes where?

3. What was the content of the coded message?

Sorry, for those questions, but this thread is not so easy to follow

Yeah I've added Thermatia's response, and I was contemplating the initiation of the code, but held off for now to find out what people think, since you know, the whole wiki IG/OOG thing. I'm certain the PMs will not treat the wiki revelation of a secretive mission as something the characters will find, so I'm sure it's not a problem, just didn't want to jump the gun.

I see. Bu at least Ariadne knows about our plan how to contact Theo with the coded message. So I guess there would be no problem of IG characters to read the wiki, so far.

We even immediately informed Ariadne about Thermantia's reply (which I personally would not have done so Wink)

Hopefully thebruce and I started not again a IG/OOG discussion Smile
