This is a spec ive had which would make what JJ and Matt's opinions on what falls into the ocean at the end of the movie both true.

From the comic we know that this pod is inside kishin and they are more or less connected. Now we also know that Clovie was searching for this pod and thats why he came to japan and found kishin. Now what if in the 4th one, Tagruato somehow got a hold of kishin and clovie, Manage to get the pod out of kishin and manage to recapture clovie, but this time instead of just holding him on the back of a ship. they tie him down no where near japan for him to hit them again, so in the area of the chaoi station. The station is used as a cage more or less. Since this monster has been on the seabed floor for who knows how long, these fields of SBN they are finding are just his piles of whatever your imagination can fathom, TBH im thinkin his crap. They found this out then just produce it from him captured under the station. Now They make short work of kishin, getting the pod out of him. Thus using Bold Futura to send that pod out into space in the satellite! Because if you remember kishins father said that just going to a different city wont help. he has to be destroyed. So them thinking that taking this pod off the planet will help. They send it up to space, clovie maybe cant sence the waves coming from the pod so far away and from being underwater, he falls into a sleep. Thats when at the end of the movie we see this "satellite" fall. The pod gets into wave trasmitting distance to clovie, near NY. Clovie sences the waves, wakes up, pissed off as hell that hes constrained again destroys the chaoi station, then heads for the position he felt the pods waves coming from. Which was NY.

The Chaui Station was attacked in December. The satellite crashed on the day Rob & Beth visited Coney Island, this was somewhere in the April after the destruction of Chaui.

This makes it obvious that the satellite didnt wake him up.

Yes i know what you mean, but the date they show in the broadcast is December too.

So the satellite crashed before Chaui got attacked?
And.. uhh do you think they could have done it a bit better with the dates and all?

It seems that the new images from the "missing USGX files" clearly points out that clovie was woken up at the drilling station. was the falling object on the ocean only a part of the chunks of material being shot up by the monster from the sinking chuau station?
