I got the e-mail as well, and also immediately was reminded of the Final State. As much as that one has me frustrated, perhaps this one will do a bit better.

I put in my info, now I guess we wait.

Me too... It appears that the less information they give you, the more interested I am.

It's really not unusual for them to ask for your number. The only thing I thought was odd was that they asked for your carrier.

Sometimes, a PM will ask for your number in case they ever need to use it for a puzzle or some form of contact.

In any case, I've signed up.. maybe something can keep me entertained.

I gave my number. It's not unusual, but totally up to you if you feel comfortable doing it or not.

I think the carrier could make a difference when sending texts or photos? Maybe? I dunno...

Wait, they meant carrier as in cell phone service? I assumed they meant mail carrier service. Embarassed

Uh, PM guys, if you're reading this thread Jerry is on Verizon!

It is pretty normal for them to ask for your cell number, for the reasons already explained excellently by the posters above. But again, it's your call to make in terms of how much info you're comfortable in providing. Some people are cool with providing someone an entire life story, while others will only give first names. I myself am weird in that I will never give my last name out unless it is absolutely necessary on the info form, and even then I'll only do it if the game really piques my interest. Yet I have no problem giving out my cell number, email address, first name, etc. I think part of it also comes in the delivery of this info sheet. Sometimes PMs will use characters to get information, like a character asking for your cell number so they can call you. This usually comes after a few interactions with a character, and you feel more comfortable giving it out, because you have at least a little familiarity with the PM through their playing the character in interactions. Whereas here, the PM(s?) are currently faceless, so it feels a little weirder giving information to a faceless entity(ies?) you know nothing about.

I know you didn't really ask for a huge psychological analysis of the issue but, uh...sometimes I ramble. Embarassed

Okay, so I suggest a pact. If we get this person killed, we all kill each other in a fantastically bloody shootout. BLAZE OF GLORY!

EDIT: And we have to blare Imogen Heap: Hide and Seek during it.

I've always thought it'd be amazing to have a Mexican Standoff on the funny sliding ferris wheel at Disney California Adventure.

Or one of those rides where it spins you real fast so you stick to the wall and then the floor drops out? That'd be gangbuster.

aye, right now, I agree with this and am holding off for now. I think the more PMs ask for this kind of info right off, the easier it'll be for real spammers to get a hold of personal info, by masquerading as 'friendly' sources. (and a sidenote, there's been no statement or agreement that your # won't be given to third parties - a small note, but a potentially important one)

/me dons tinfoil hat

Plus I'm not so much for live interactions, so we'll see how cell #'s are used in this one Smile

I got this email as well. I actually just dismissed it as spam without any investigating, I really need to stop doing that.

ARGs have completely ruined my email security. I see an email now, like, "VitaminPlus: Where did she go?" and I think, "Well, it could be for an ARG. I mean, woman always go missing in ARGs, and women do indeed take vitamins. Makes sense!" So I click it, and it's for Viagra or Enzyte or some other spyware crap... Mad

I haven't started clicking the Viagra ads yet but I do read them now which is a start. In Fact I read this one too, then threw it out.

Haven't had and viagra ads, mostly Twinkies and Ho-hos Foily!

Bumpercars. Nothing says straight gangsta' like a bumpercar-mounted minigun.

Oh, and, on an on topic note... watching this ARG. Not sure yet if I want to actively participate, but I'm watching.
