Actually, sounds more like McCarthy's investigators

Wow, this is what happens when you're out sick for a day?

Well, looking forward to a new task. I wasn't gonna be able to do the picture thing either...

Why are any of us even posting here? Clearly we're all BTS and need to stop posting here immediately. Rolling Eyes

Not at all. I know nothing about the game itself. I just know Marika is not a PM.

That's right. Now, the rest of you ... up against the wall, and empty your pockets Exclamation

Just kidding Rolling Eyes . I think you may have misunderstood the gist of my statement and the nature of the problems here, so I will clarify and at the same time try and shed some light on the issues here:

As you probably know, the unfiction forums are primarily a player resource. The intended purpose of these forums is to provide a place where players can discuss/play ARGs that is both out of game and free from interference by individuals who have knowledge of a game's inner workings (generally referred to elsewhere as puppetmasters or behind-the-scenes). When an individual does have information about the inner workings of a game, that places some special obligations upon them when it comes to these forums. Specifically, they are not allowed to attempt to manipulate the playing experience of others through the dissemination/posting of that information.

And, BTW. The "Doc" has no contingency for if you guys pass. This has now passed from the real of "maybe" to "fact". he's stalling to finish his scripting. Great job. PM's. Way to treat your players, of whom you have lost many.

Actually I floated that piece of "information" out to Nighthawk to see if it would surface elsewhere. Sometimes how far you can throw someone has nothing to do with how far they should be trusted.

Anyway, to my knowledge, the PM's are well prepared for anything you can throw at them ...

Nighthawk wrote:
Furthermore, in the same way that someone trusted me with information, I trusted you with information and you happily betrayed that telling me that you "don't care" and that it "falls on deaf ears."

Marika, natas, and Nighthawk at the very least claimed to have information about the inner workings of a game, and attempted to use it to manipulate the playing experience of others. Now, precisely what each of their motives were, what they were trying to accomplish, and whether or not the information was accurate is actually not terribly important. What is important is that this is not making use of the unfiction forums to play the game, but rather to manipulate the playing experience of other players. This is just the sort of the thing the Terms of Service stipulates as not being acceptable use of these forums.

There has been a fair bit of discussion in previous posts of who is a puppetmaster and who is behind-the-scenes in what game. Whether an individual is a puppetmaster of a game in the true sense of the word, or they simply have access to privileged information about the inner workings of a game (that is, they are possession of facts that the players of that game at large are not, and thus are in a behind-the-scenes position), the prohibition against their posting in topics for that game in a fashion that amounts to interfering in the gameplay applies.

Puppetmasters, behind-the-scenes persons, and friends thereof (to whom they confide information about the inner workings of their game) have special obligations when it comes to posting on the unfiction forums. They have to be diligent about avoiding using their privileged information to manipulate and interfere with gameplay. I think a lot of the confusion and discussion up to this point has been about what the rules are for people who try to inhabit this gray area; to be both a player of a game / poster in its topics, and have knowledge of its inner workings at the same time.

The gist of the Terms of Service is reasonably clear on this. They essentially say "don't be in that gray area." Be a player of a game and post in its topics, or be a person who knows things that players of a game in general do not know and do not post in its topics, but do not try to be both at the same time because it is tricky to do so and not violate the requirement to not use that information to manipulate and interfere with the gameplay.

Oh Hell, is this game riddled with strife and player/pm bickering like 48 sometimes was? Still reading catch up. the 'flame wars' over at Hall Of Judges have been deleted. Does that mean the conflict is happily over?

I think calm has been restored Mirror. And no word from Brody since you last heard from him.

xnbomb, that was clearly stated. Thank you. From what I know Marika is our Trailmaster for 48HiP and is not working in any capacity on H2H. The 48ers came to know her name when a player received an erroneous email saying that she had died OOG. This is well documented in the 48HiP section on uF. This does not make any of us insiders; it was simply a dreadful event from which we've all moved on. Hope this helps. Smile
