I'll be honest, the PM of this game is really starting to piss me off.

TINAG. ARG. The entire concept of TINAG is that anything that happens in-game should always be in character. To "Doc", this isn't a game, and he would never reference any ARG terminology.

Regardless of how he spins it, this isn't a display of compassion. This is his way of getting around being creative and getting a massive audience. As far as ARGs go, this is already a massive game. I just hope he has the goods to keep the masses entertained.

I'll be watching, but I don't expect to get too involved with this one. Good luck, PM - I know you're reading - but you're making unwise mistakes.

I agree. I'm going to stop trying to recruit my friends. I don't want them to have a bad experience with an emotionally immature PM.

Just wanted to say hi, I'm new to this whole thing and I'm hoping it won't completely take over my life Wink
I live about an hour from Simcoe, I really don't have the time to drive out there, but I do have access to someone who goes out there every work day, I wouldn't want to get her involved really (she's a grandmother type) but I'm sure she'd take pics if we still need to. (I guess that wouldn't be necessary if it is confirmed).

I don't know who I could recruit, I don't know anyone who knows about ARG's, I assume this isn't typical PM behavior?

Laughing @Nighthawk I'm not sure how we got from doing all right to "epic failure." Perhaps Doc's exaggerating a little to make the point? In any event, it sounds like getting more people involved would be useful no matter what we think of Doc's motivation for this task.
*<3 and hugs to Tiggs* and welcome to tongue tied!

As for PMs they have their own personalities. This experience seems well-conceived and compelling. It would be silly to expect normal behavior from a person who's planning to abduct a girl and experiment on her, wouldn't it?

24 hours in purgatory

I was wondering if anyone here is/was involved in (playing) 24 Hours in Purgatory? I started it but soon backed out due to some "ugly" power struggling between some of the more experienced players. The reason I ask is because this seems to have quite a few similarities to it. Perhaps a 24 Hours 2? I never followed it to the end (if its over???) so I don't know what the final story was?

No, you're right. I would be perturbed if Doc acted like a normal individual. The "cock-swinging" line didn't phase me, it was actually a little impressive. But referencing Nighthawk's posts on this thread, and using ARG terminology on in-game forums is just poor etiquette.

I've seen times, and I know Nighthawk's experienced this too, when players make false conclusions about puzzles or game media. But that doesn't mean that you can correct them. You just have to revise your next step to guide them back on the path. Even the best PMs will eventually have to do that.

You mean 48 Hours in Purgatory, right? Very Happy

If you do: no, it's not over.

Yeah, there are lots of similarities between this and 48HIP in terms of design: the forum system, the website default page constantly changing, the appearance of some of the artwork... Some of us believe that it's either by the same design team or definitely inspired by it.

But, no, we don't feel it's a sequel... The plot lines are completely different. Of course, that's not confirmed, and you never know in the world of ARGs.

Yeah, that's what I meant. Laughing
I know the game involved people that were placed in a room voluntarily and expected to face their inner demons while being studied by the film crew. This appears it's going to be a person placed in a room INVOLUNTARILY while WE study them. Seemed similar. Thanx for the clarification.

Albany, your point was well taken. I can only imagine a PM's frustration when we miss something completely. But it is a dynamic situation so, thankfully, adjustments can be made when needed.

DbD, a few weeks ago at 48 we got The Martinet, who is there to keep everything on track. As Nighthawk said, there will be more to come with that story. Amandel updated the story to date here at uF if you want to check out what's been going on and rejoin us.

I'm near abandoning this ARG but I have no other ones on the go. Well not really. Grr. Ok I say start a new thread once this actually starts.

Oh and everyone eat some Brownie and :twinkies: and just make peace with each other. Enough with the infighting. I read about ten pages of it and am losing interest in the actual ARG due to it.

EDIT: Where's the twinkie icon?

Hey, I now have 6 people signed up from ONE post. I'd say I'm doing pretty well. I still complain about the task, but I did my part.

And while it makes sense for the Doc to be a jerk, he's still pissing me off. Granted, we're not supposed to like him, but he's responding to uF threads and posts and referring to some great people as "cock swinging". All because he has yet to come up with a really justifiable reason for his ridiculous requirement. We've had like 3 people join since yesterday. 400 is impossible. I am sticking around in the hope that when our "epic fail" finishes, he still has a really great two weeks planned for us.

From reading his latest diatribe I'm imagining him with someone in mind while heading to the gourmet markt for "some fava beans and a nice chianti".
