[BLOG] Noriko: Why I Came to California

Noriko has a new blog entry explaining what led to her decision to move to California:
http://www.findthelostring.com/noriko/detail.do?postId=1479

"First of all, upon hearing that Ariadne's place had been buglarized, I had begun thinking about leaving (Dr) Miki's place when an envelope from San Francisco arrived at her clinic. This is what was inside [photo of the postcard posted]. With that, I was convinced that I should not stay at her place any longer and I began to think that maybe there must be something that I could do in California. I contacted Kai and he made all the moving arrangements (he handled everything from the passport to airline ticket to a place to live, but as it might get him in trouble, I can't get into the details of how he did it).

I did want to meet Kai in person to express my thanks to him and he had kindly suggested taking a San Francisco route (for my flight) so, as I had no major reason not to, I said OK.

As for Why California, it is because of this postcard. "California is starting to slide in the direction of NeoPangea in the North. We have traveled this far to perform trainings in a place with frequent earthquakes." I believe these are the words of a previous Japanese traveler so I thought I'd follow his (her?) foot prints.

"We must stop the world from collapsing. Otherwise we will never be able to return home." It is unbelievable that this world would collapse and if it's possible to recover my memories, I'd want to go back home to where someone might be waiting for me. Also, above this message in red ink, it says that "if this happens in 2008 it will be my fault." I thought that I don't know what I can do but I have to do something.

I had no intention of turning my back to my supporters in Japan and did not even realize that they would ever feel this way. I apologize for not explaining things thoroughly. Regarding this, I feel that geographical location doesn't matter and that wherever we are in the world, we can make something happen toward this mission as long as we work together. The network of the supporters in Japan appear quite strong; there are people with strong language skills and everyone is really smart, coming up with hypotheses that I could not think of. I have felt very reassured of your support so that even if I left Okayama, that would not change.

I only have a few acquaintances here right now so it's a little difficult to devote myself to labyrinth training. But I hope to try out the personal labyrinth myself and see if I can remember something and find a way to prevent Neopangea.

-Noriko"

Thanks for the translation, Rivanor! It looks like there's nothing all that new here, except for this:

It looks like she thinks the red writing is from someone who doesn't want NeoPangaea. We were only assuming the writing was Theo's, although the handwriting didn't match Theo's postcard to Ariadne. So is that writing from someone else who knows what's going on? A former Agon?

The thing is that in 1906, when this was written, the Great 1906 Earthquake happened. Maybe the person who wrote to Noriko on the postcard thinks that the synchronization is causing the earthquakes. The agonothetai who originally wrote the postcard says that they failed to synchronize. Perhaps failing to synchronize causes worse earthquakes?

Also, remember Theo's original warning: "What you don't remember can't hurt you." (similar to "STAY BLIND?") "And it's my job to make sure you never remember. You and your friends may outnumber us, but we have a 1600 year advantage. You will never find the lost ring and the six of you will never return home."

The postcard indicates that synchronization will allow them to return home. Noriko's postcard warns against synchronizing, which would mean they wouldn't return home.

I still think this is from Theo or someone aligned with him.

This is not a good thing, in my opinion, because I personally think that Kai is Theo. And since Theo has addressed Noriko the most out of the six, I worry that he thinks that she is the most impressionable, which is probably true. So she'll most likely listen to him.

I have a feeling Theo is very persuasive...

Kai was helping us with the training on Sunday. If he wants to prevent synchronization, that's not a very good way to do it. Noriko is planning to participate in a training session in San Diego or LA. Again, if I was trying to prevent synchronization, that wouldn't be my plan.

In agreement with Ariock, I don't believe Kai to be Theo. I am, however, a bit suspicious of Kai's friend James that was in attendance Sunday as well. Kai said that James is the person who encouraged him to initially take the trip to South Africa. Kai also claimed that travel and the outdoors in general aren't his first choice of activities. James, however, is an unknown. If he were Theo, it would make sense that if he knew about the agonothetai he would want to be around to stop them as soon as possible. What better way than to silence Ariadne the Dikaisune? As Dikaisune are the leaders, it would make sense to cut off the leadership before any of this began.

James could have just missed finding Ariadne before Kai who, being a more compassionate person(theoretically), wanted to use the vast resources at his disposal to help her recover her life. I think James may be Theo, or at least closely working with him.

Eh, Kai was cool and James wasn't bad. I personally think that it's Mei Hui or Markus still. I mean, for me it all points at Mei Hui since she blatantly seems to agree with Theo to some degree. Markus I could see, since of the six traveler's he stands out as the only one who is the opposite of his strength (if he's Thumos, why does he keep wanting to hide?)

Kai struck nice chords in me and James didn't strike bad ones, so... yeah.

Well, this is may be a part of the whole Theo plan: instill distrust among the team so that they can't work together productively anymore.

I recalled in Noriko's video when she first arrived in SF that Kai had appeared in it and said, "Don't worry, we're taking care of her... we'll send her some place safe" or something to that affect. I had wondered who he had been referring to in "We" and asked Noriko about it... maybe he was referring to just a group of pals, or James... no response yet though. (maybe not important)

I don't think it's any of the six. They may be lead astray by Theo, but Mei Hui supporting some of his ideas isn't the same as supporting HIM fully. And as to it possibly being of no importance, anyone that is involved can impact the chain of events. I think the fact the Kai said "we" makes it important. The fact that James hadn't been mentioned up to this point is part of what makes me suspicious of him. He seemed rather outgoing Sunday, and for a social person like him to be behind the scenes is fishy.

But it is an excellent opportunity to see first-hand how we're doing on our attempts to synchronize. And, of course, if Theo were to show up in his "Kai" identity, then he'd have to act like Kai -- being helpful and all -- so as not to draw suspicion.

[META]At any rate, the poor guy's just an actor hired to play the part. He probably has some improvisation skills, but what reliable information could we really have gleaned from his reactions if we'd started grilling him?[/META]

In the blog now photos of the postcard and the goggles are posted. Does this mean the goggles were in the envelope?
Which makes sense becuase Noriko woke up with another blindfold
http://olympics.wikibruce.com/Noriko/080305-id1071

But the "noriko" goggles are exactly the same like Ariadnes ones. So were do they come from?

Renata? How much like Ariadne was she? Maybe she came with the same outfit back then?

This is a really good question. Maybe we could ask Larissa? If Renata came with white goggles, then this would be a good hint that she is part of TheO...

I suggested that a while back; never heard anything from the folks that said they were going to ask Larissa. It's a pretty logical conclusion, though--who else would even have those goggles but another runner?
