[BLOG] Ariadne has a parallel vision

http://www.findthelostring.com/ariadne/detail.do?postId=1448

Conveniently enough, she sees herself typing in MAKE OMPH KNOT. What can it mean? She needs our help!!!

So in the trailer we were seeing an alternate world? Weird... (From a meta perspective, you woulda thought they'd have Ariadne do her blog post before the trailer came out, so it'd make a lot more sense.)

So...It looks like whatever's happening on the omphaputer is something we actually want to happen. Looks pretty terrifying, but maybe it's associated with worlds synchronizing, not blowing up but coming together...Get enough nations together participating in labyrinth runs, and we can create an omph knot to tie the world together in peace. Razz

Do you think she was going in and out of focus as a result of some parallel Ariadne doing labyrinth laps and pulling her slightly out of our reality at every turn?

Ya know...when I read your post I grinned...but then I realized that this was the first time we'd seen that happening. Everyone's videos seem perfectly filmed. It's a pretty interesting theory, actually.

After watching Ariadne's blog, I went to a nearby labyrinth and walked it.

It was an interesting experience. I've been feeling a little unbalanced lately, with too much work and not enough time to unwind. I love where I am right now but it's been a twisting path to get here and there is a long, long road ahead to get where I need to be. So it was nice to recognize the metaphor for my life in the symbol of the labyrinth, and it also reminded me that there is hope and that I'll reach my goal as long as I keep following the path.

Another thing to note is that I walked part of it with my eyes closed and had no trouble navigating it, so perhaps I had aligned with my other self, who'd been training for the Lost Sport. Smile

Great video, lhall! Looks like a really mystical experience. I can't wait to do mine...I have a scroll prepared, but I'm waiting until we have a register...

I was thinking the same thing. For a video, it still instills the sense of individuality, independence and isolation one might expect from a personal labyrinth journey.

I had considered this when watching Trailer IV, I guess I should have posted about it then...

The signs are all there. In this reality, when Ariadne met Eli, he said he couldn't help her. In the trailer, however, they're working together, and that's how she finds the OMPH KNOT command.

Subtle, then they drive the point home with the "transition" from Eli speaking passionately to (assumed) Ariadne in the study, to Eli speaking dispassionately to the audience at the lecture hall. That was a switch from the alternate world to this one.

Where to go from here? Obviously, the other five should be encouraged to try their own personal labyrinth (it's possible MeiHui has already, considering her post about her "new me"), and document the results. Email Eli this and convince him to try it, too; we may be able to get him to help the Six, if he connects with his other self.

(do I even need a SPEC tag for this?)

I was wondering how much of the video stuff was done ahead of time, and how much was being shot new each week. I mean, surely, some of it could have been done ahead of time.

But I like the fact that things are introduced referring to the up to date happenings as well. For example, Ariadne's use of the word 'omphaputer'.. *nice*!

I sent Eli a note about it. I told him " Maybe the personal labyrinth rite is your best shot at finding out the motives of Theo's group, because a version of you may have joined him, so a version of you might already know."

I am not sure if this is the correct strategiy. It could be on a parallel world that Theo is a nice guy.

I also went out and started practicing on a labyrinth of my own creation in my backyard, made of a great big ball of knitted yarn that I made in sixth grade (yay fingerknitting!). I too was able to walk part of it with my eyes closed, but it was harder due to the fact that my labyrinth was on a >45 degree slope, so it require a bit more focus. I'll also make a video when I do the actual labyrinth walk (with the scroll and all) tomorrow. When I practice yesterday and today, I carry a temporary register with the hope that I synch up with my other self for a moment and he can get the time and place.

After all, when you're doing athletic synchronization, that makes you like an omphalos, and the register needs to be in an omphalos... so the register is to make sure that the other 'you's can know the time and place, right? Anyway, LHall's vid has made me want to make one of my own when I walk it tomorrow morning :p

As far as my experiences walking it... I considered this only a practice walk, so I wasn't trying for visions or anything, but then again at a few points I did feel as though I were a part of something larger, something almost cosmic... that's about all I could say on the experience so far.

Diego has walked Personal Labyrinths already some time ago. Her from his blog from 2nd April:

[quote="Diego"]
And I went, and drew labyrinths, and walked them, and I had more visions, the flashes of visions that I had before departing were clear and vivid, although I regret to report that they were not very pleasant.
Quote:

and from 3rd April

[quote="Diego"]
While I walked the labyrinth I drew in Brazil with my eyes closed or blindfolded, I had very vivid visions: I was closed my eyes and walking and instantly I started seeing things. Some were more abstract, other more concrete.

The abstract visions began with what appeared to be a tree blowing in the wind, but I saw clearly that branches were splitting as if they were growing more twigs and sometimes a whole range of small branches collapsed suddenly and returned to form a single one, as if the bifurcations that arose from the branch had been engulfed by each another. The image of the Chapter 11 Codex closely resembles these visions.

The other was something more tangible, it started on a beach like those where I had drawn labyrinths, where the tide began to rise, a bit at first, then more and more until the whole continent was under water. Then I realized that it was not the water that rose, but the continent that fell. All of South America began to sink until it was completely under water ... It was a very real vision, I woke up from them nervous and agitated. Is this something like what Micha saw for 30 years?

I think the vision itself had been discussed somewhere in another thread. I just wanted to point out, that Diego found out about Personal Labyrinths before chapter 19 was found.

Inspired by her artistry, I walked my own personal labyrinth Sunday night, and finished editing it last night.

Let me just tell you what a pain it was though.. I had planned to do the night time candle thing from the beginning, but after setting it all up there was quite the wind. The ground was marked with flour, as I wanted something that was white and would reflect the candle light and be seen at night. Bad weather was in the forecast for the next two days, so my window of opportunity was small. Rather than wait, I pressed ahead. I wound up making aluminum foil 'shields' to place around the candles and keep them from blowing out. This kept them from going out every 15 seconds as was the case before. Now, it was only every few minutes.

The new problem was that the shields also drastically reduced the light's ability to pool. So instead of having a nicely illuminated labyrinth, I had one that was barely visible on the camera, in turn causing what little that could be seen to be out of focus.

Since the journey was planned and the destination in sight, I aimed to complete it. I worked with what I had, and hoped that the artistry outweighed the technical difficulties.

If you take the time to watch it, I want to thank you in advance.
Sometimes its good to reflect on the choices you've made, whatever it is that prompts you to do so in the first place.
