Chaos, Discord.. A wrench in Operation Slipknot..
(from the Cranky ARGer)

For anyone that is up for throwing some discord (and their general frustrations regarding busy signals), I suggest the following:

1) I'm calling the offices of JC with a tip from "someone working at the hotel" about some suspicious activity at the concierge's desk.

2) If someone can get in touch with the CCFABG organization and tip them off that the commissioner (especially Det. Gordon) is engaging in a witch hunt involving "Good honest members of the police force' who may disagree with their superiors.

3) A phone call or message should be left at Rossi's restaurant by someone indicating that one of the "targets" from Operation Slipknot did not receive their package. That they are getting nervous and to please have "Mr. C" contact them.

Other ideas, I'm all ears....

Task #1 (done) - email

The following e-mail was sent to JC:
Dear Mr. Candoloro,

I want to thank you for the assistance that you had provided during my time of troubles.
To show my appreciation, I wanted to let you know about some suspicious activity that I had spotted
recently, at the Gotham Intercontinental.

I was meeting my dearest Sabine for lunch today, whilst staying at the hotel for business.
As I waited at the concierge's desk in regards to some amenities at my suite, I noticed that the staff
were in a flurry of activity in regards to a stack of packages.

I recognized several of the names as individuals who belong to the "Concerned Citizens for a Better Gotham".

When I inquired as to what the emergency was, one staffer remarked that they had been receiving
several phone calls and voice mails asking about all of these packages being delivered.

To be frank, it is my belief that there is a major operation by Harvey Dent and his cronies on the Gotham Police Dept.,
to silence those who disagree with him. It is also my belief that someone in the Concerned Citizens organization
is providing proprietary information to Mr. Dent

As Thomas Jefferson once wrote:
"The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants"

If ever you require my assistance.

Left a message on Rossi's voicemail saying I was a "Concerned Citizen" and that Roy Claussen didn't get his package.

Nice one mate. I'm hoping the PMs will follow through on this...I know some others were considering similar moves in response to the shenanigans with slipknot.

That's also an excellently written, IG message right there Very Happy

Haha, thanks man, this is actually the first official ARG that I've fully participated in. Here's hoping for a reply!

Let me be honest with you when I say I doubt this will change anything. If you've noticed, this game is extremely scripted with very few things changing due to player handling like this. If you remember back when we were reporting corrupt officers right before the first trailer came out? A lot of people thought it would be funny to report Jim Gordon or Commissioner Loeb. All that happened was they were sent back an e-mail saying "Hey, these guys are squeaky clean, don't worry," more or less. If you get an e-mail back or anything, let us know. If not, then sorry... you tried.

Besides, if you mess this up you could ruin our chance at seeing the new trailer! It probably depends on us getting these cops busted! Shocked

Any well-executed orderly plan could fail when faced with an determined and unpredictable opposition..

If they have it so tightly ordered, even our attempts at chaos aren't going to ruin it for other people.

Phase #2..

Here follows my suggestion:

Create discord / chaos by using the following:

  1. The "Packages: (Plan A1)
If anyone knows someone receiving a package that is willing to share the information, we infilitrate Operation: Slipknot's and hit their servers with false or misleading information.

To do so, we leave the confirmation number the same, but plant misinformation about either the alias or the location (NOT BOTH.. two pieces of truth to one lie)

Preference is packages that have not been reported yet (and someone willing to share and going in on the fun)

  2. The "Packages: (Plan A2)
Find someone (or someones) willing to go along with our attempt at discord, who has received a package but not yet reported it.

If they are willing, ask them not to register the package at Operation: Slipknot.

Wait for the phone call. If it's the Gotham PD, have them emphasize that they have personal reservations to what they have been asked to do and that certain things have been made very clear to them about what will happen if they continue their cooperation.. (An added sound effect could be a scream in the background.. even better if someone else can come on the line and sound like a 'tough guy')

If the phone call is from JC, inform him that there is a mole in the CCAFBG that GPD Major Crimes have asked you to intercept a package.

(More people with packages willing to play along the better..)

  3. Concerned Citizens for a Better Gotham:
If someone can find a way of shooting an e-mail to the CCFABG and let them know that there is a witch hunt taking place and an attempt by Harvey Dent to suppress the free speech rights of the citizens of Gotham.

  4. A letter to the editor of the Gotham Times
I can take care of this unless someone else wants to write a compelling letter.

A letter to the editor will be sent discussing the recent attempt by Harvey Dent through something known as "Operation: Slipknot" to suppress the rights of police officers to exercise their free speech.

(Edit: Letter to the editor of the Gotham Times sent as well as a tip to "MaidenAvenue")

  5. Kinsley Travel
If someone can call the Travel agency and impersonate one of the "targeted" cops (or a spouse) and leave a message asking to change their travel plans..

(It can be either a cop who is pending arrest or they are moving in for..)

  6. Joseph Candoloro
An e-mail needs to be sent to JCA letting it slip that Dent knows about someone travelling under an assumed name to the following destination.

(We need the alias and destination for a particular cop)

    (edit: task completed)

After all of that, we can ponder in what way to escalate the chaos..
(Perhaps staging rallies for CCFABG if all the arrests are made, planting stories about how the GPD murdered a couple of the 'targeted' officers.)

And if someone wants to forward our plan to SHH, be my guest!

42 has changed things drastically based on player interactions before - a major plot twist in I Love Bees was completely prompted by something a player did, they hadn't planned for it at all.

This all a very well put together campaign, keep it up!

edited to add: I just e-mailed Candoloro telling him that the GPD have the travel info.

Phase #2 - posting sent to tips@maiden...

Here's the text of the posting sent to tips:
I have some informed sources that indicate the Gotham PD: Major Crimes Unit have initiated a major operation (called "Operation: Slipknot")
against the following individuals in the Gotham PD:

Ronald Ladd
Brian Chaplin
Thomas Bonnett
James Lemis
Wayne Breton
Ralph Pittman
Larry Kennon
Nathan Scharf
Timothy Messick
Kevin Tatro
Ernest Ahmad
Frank Caines
Joe Addington
Juan Peterson
Billy Dambrosio
Craig Arndt
Sean Handley
Keith Walters
Jimmy Nickerson
Aaron Zeller
Dale Normand
Eugene Winchell
Xavier Freemander
Tony Elwell
Vern Stevenson
Jon Rosenthal
Roy Claussen
Mary Ellen DeVillino
Thomas Ramon
Jason Tabagiani

My sources aren't clear as to who is calling the shots from the District Attorney's office. Several of the names are police officers who belong to the "Concerned Citizens for a Better Gotham". Perhaps this is an attempt by Harvey Dent to retaliate against those who oppose him and boost his political visibility in the eyes of the Gotham voters?
Perhaps Garcetti has launched an clean-up campaign?

Phase #2 - Letter to the Editor (Gotham Times)
"Dent - overreaching or a tyrant?"

Here's the text of what was sent to the Gotham Times "Letter to the Editor"

Has Harvey Dent stooped so low as to use the Gotham PD Major Crimes Unit to do his dirty work?
How else can you describe the rumored efforts of the MCU in apprehending several individuals from the "Concerned Citizens for a Better Gotham".

His grandstanding and prosecutorial overreach are nothing more than the free speech suppression of individuals whose only crime is
to dissent against his viewpoint.

If we do not stand up to such tyrannical actions, how many other good, honest citizens of Gotham will be targets of Dent's oppression?

4 packages outstanding...

The outstanding packages remaining are for:
Arndt
Nickerson
Elwell
D'Ambrosio -> (Package was directed to an SHH person)

The SHH boards have several packages posted (with the confirmation IDs..).

You should just know, there is a message to the cops on CFABG, in the source code. I guess that your email worked!

You mean:

<!-- <ACCESS> -->
<!-- <gih> -->

?

Afaik that was up before this interference campaign was started. Could be wrong though. Would be interesting if you guys were able to alter the game somehow.
