Bleeding or Seeding?

Prior to posting this observation I did a search of the forum and was unable to find any reference to this so here goes….

When I saw Hud's final scene in the theater I noticed what I initially though were birds flying over Clover's head. Now while re-watching the scene on the DVD it became quickly obvious that the objects (black particles) were actually something being emitted by the creature itself. In fact you can actually hear the material being expelled. The question is, what is it? This could conceivably be bleeding due to injuries sustained from the bombing but this doesn't really appear to the case. It may be important to note that this scene takes place in Central Park. Could this be some form of (War of the Worlds-esque) seeding which could lead to a connection to the term Cloverfield?

Also note that Clover's secondary appendages (suckers?) are extended in this scene rather than tucked away in his underbelly.

They confirmed the monster had barnacles on it, so I thought they were barnacles falling down.

it's said that the little bug things that bit Marlena actually are eggs that form on the monsters back, fall off (in the process cracking open), and go about their fun little buisness of exploding people from the inside out.

so possibly it was the little spider-buddies falling down. but i never saw anything fall off his back on that part, but i was also staring at Clover's face so i wasnt paying attention.

No. NO, NO, NO. It's been confirmed by Neville Page himself that the parasites are NOT the offspring of MGP. And we'd be calling them Lil' Grumpy Pants if they were.

I dont think he ment they were off spring just said that the parasites eggs were on mgp and fall off. And I agree that that might be it.

In slow motion the black particles do not appear anything like the footage of the parasites falling off Clover and attacking the troops. They appear more random in size but do appear to be originating from his back and/or head.

Parasites flying off maybe?

Or possibly dead skin fragments falling off.

Actually looking now, its debris from the buildings coming off when its sacks move.

Linkified super-huge animated gif file. Remember everyone is not blessed with broadband, and even THAT isn't always that fast. - E

You'd have a bit of dirt and crud on you too if you'd been plowing through buildings and had bombs blasting everything around you for 7 hours. I can be on a beach for 15 min. and find sand in my pockets 6 mos. later.

Do you guys really think hud would have lasted as long as he did, or that rob and beth would have lasted til their death if parasites were running around that close to them?

If it would have been parasites then they wouldn't have made it to the bridge without being bitten.

well lets think logic here. the monster produces about..... im guessing maybe 10 seconds to form and fall off, maybe 20 if you push it. and i round about 4 per minute or 6. and the military is there, so they shoot a lot of them cause when your not shooting the big monster (which by the way i still think theres more than one monster, cuse the thing cant be damn near invincable) your gonna be shooting parasites.

which makes sense why all the parastes we saw in the movie were in the subway tunnel or abondened buildings so they dont all die. thats why they were hardly attacked by mini-clovers. there isnt any main enemy in the movie for our group cuse they were hardly ever attacked.
