So here is the news as of midnight:

We have a new blog by Dan about how he is hoping to continue his ventures and buisness by himself. here is the blog http://dancorrigan.wordpress.com/2008/05/26/bank-holiday-madness/

Also, Surer Risk has put on a deadline to their application. Me thinks someone is supposed to apply for the job. I would, but once again, nowhere near london...if it matters.

Okay, just got a response last night from Surer Risk. For refrence, here was the original email I sent to them:

Quote:
To whom this may concern,

As I have said before, my team is interested in hiring Surer for our upcoming project. Im sorry we can not disclose to you about the project until we have come into a contract or agreement. The chairmen who attended the Annual Trustee Meeting have told me only good things about the direction which your company is heading. Regardless, we still have some questions for you before we can make a decision (hopefully answered by Sir Cilverton, Mr. Ristowe, Mr. Stormant, Mr. Forsythe, or Mr. Blatchford).

1.) Do you have any contacts or agents in the United States that I can contact? This is where our company and project is based, so it will ultimatly help for both funding, simplicity, and communication.
2.) Where have the new trustees (Mr. Kamm and Mr. Hayder) worked in the past? We hope to inquire about the success of their buisness ventures before trusting ours with them. If you could give us some way to contact them it would be very appreciated.
3.) Also, what has happened of Peter Fitzherbert? We were in contact with him...and then he suddenly just trailed off. Given that this was a while back, is he ill or has he just forgotten about us. If you could ask him for us.
4.) Lastly, what about Daniel Corrigan? He was the one who turned us on to Surer Risk but we havent heard from him in a few days. A chairmen of our company believed that he was fired at the ATM, but was not sure. Is there any reason or truth behind this?

Feel free to contact me by this email account or by phone. My work/cell phone is 1-(973)-216-9599, in the USA. Hopefully soon we shall be in buisness.
~Darren Dameon Knight III~
~Chairman~
~uF Miner's Association~

and then teir response is as follows:
Quote:
Dear Darren,

sorry about the delay, I have been away on leave, half-term and children I am
afraid.

We do have several agents operating in America, but no office as yet. Most of
our agents are in remote locations where Internet access is sporadic at best.
I am sure we can answer any question you have relating to our US ops.

Mr Kamm and Hayder, have been working with us for a few years in a consultant
capacity. We are very excited that they have joined our board, and look
forward to seeing more of their inspired guidance. They both have diverse
backgrounds, and we will be posting their profiles on our newly designed
website. I will send you a link, as soon as it is ready for launch.

I am afraid to say, Mr Fitzherbert is no longer with us. He passed away in
April, and is missed dearly. I am surprised the Company Secretary hasn't been
in touch about this, as he has handled Peter's affairs since he passed away.

Dan Corrigan is no longer with us at Surer. I can't go into details about the
nature of his dismissal, as it is confidential. Kindly extend my apologies to
your Chairman for the abrupt ending of the ATM. Please send me a contact
address, so we can put this in writing.

I hope this answers your questions, and kindly contact me if there is anything
I have missed out.

Kind regards

Davinia Peirce
Secretary

Dan Corrigan has posted a new entry on his blog.

We know a "Vic", don't we, even though they don't really sound like the same person...

EDIT: There's something new about the job application on the forums, too. Maybe I'll try and apply,as well, though there are certainly people here better suited for this.
Does anyone of the more experienced people have to say anything about the IG/OOG status of the forums? It's sort of awkward the way it is, with IG characters posting and OOG conversation going on at the same time, and I'm not really sure how to handle it "correctly", so that I don't piss other players off. Wink

Hey everyone, i just sent everbody a PM on the other forum, but I will post what is said here just to clear up any IG and OOG confusion:

Quote:
Okay everyone,
I know there is a little confusion about what is in-game and what is out of game. It is pretty simple.

Violettes Dream Forums are IG. Use them to alert the characters of something, ask them a question etc.. But very importantly, do not mention this as a game (TINAG) or say anything about unFiction. Make sure when you write anything, you are writing it in character of some sort.

unFiction Forums are OOG. that is where we can and must do all the meta talk. The characters cannot read that and dont know about unFiction (it virtually dosent exist in their world). It can help the PM but anything on the unForum will not be read by characters. Here you can talk about the game as a game.

LASTLY, please edit the posts on job advert on the VD forum:
These sections in particualar:
[glow=gold,2,300]Sleep of Reason: In-game forums... that hadn't occurred to me. I'm unclear on where the dividing line is? There's game-characters posting here, which I guess means they're reading (and reacting to) what's said here too. Or do they ignore anything talking about the game-as-game? Can they read Unfiction too? Or are there limits? And how can we know?[/glow]
[glow=red,2,300]Machina: (I wasn't sure about how ingame the forums here are, so I didn't make it public)[/glow]

Ill post this on uF too...but not on the VD forums (see how that works, lol). Please contact me with any questions.

~Darren

That is all

Done - sorry for the stupidity Wink

I assumed IG at first, and then thought (too realistically, perhaps?) something along the lines of "but if it's on the forums, people at Surer could see it, too", so I PMed Dan instead of asking directly in the forums, with the intention of posting the reply (if I got one) here.
Then I saw Sleep of Reason's post and it completely confused me, because it sounded OOG to me... and, well, mayhem ensued. Embarassed
Won't happen again!

Yeah, np. This and TiNaG are the hardest concepts to understand as ARGers and sometimes the line between the curtain is hard to distinguish from here.

On a diffrent note, do you think we should start a wiki for this?

I'm for a wiki.

About the job application: Doesn't Dan's latest VD forum post sound slightly like location wasn't that important (teleconferencing and such)?
I'd probably fail miserably at bluffing my way through an actual spoken conversation, since English isn't my first language and I'm definitely worse at speaking it than I'm at writing - otherwise I'd give it a try, even though I'm not close enough to London either.

Just got an email from the Fan (in response to one I sent nearly two weeks ago, just after the ATM, asking if it was her who gave me the card with her email addy on it).

Quote:
VR, that may have been Snow White. Did you get a photograph of her? She is not to be trusted, and always up to something.

I do need help, enticing details out of Dan Corrigan. He has something we all need. His knowledge of Surer has got to be helpful. I gather he left with some company files...

Fan

from Violette's Dream blog entry
Quote:
After several email exchanges with Dan, he has agreed to share the photographs

OK--color me stupid but I thought only the Violette's Dream blogger had Dan's new email address.
So, how can the Fan know or hint that DC left Surer with files if he doesn't have Dan's email? Where does he get his info?

The same way we do probably, Dan himself, Dan's blog, the Violettes Dream forum. All that is freegame for our buddy. For all we know 'the fan' could have been in PM exchange with Dan and got his email from that. We are just asked to suspend belief and assume that they have some way of contacting each other. I guess...
