my advice to people that couldn't access the IRC would be to try a IRC program instead of the JAVA client on here.

mIRC is the one i use.

I'm completely blocked here... JAVA or a program (Colloquy on Mac). So I'm assuming that port 6667 is purposely blocked to prevent people on the network from using IRC. I can't wait to get home to my own internet...

i'm not getting any pages after the #5 puzzle page...you sure you aren't looking at the 5th puzzle?

No, there is another page now with just pascal code and nothing else.

it says "find the secret city"

Hmmm. So are people still thinking it coud be Memphis based on the three other cities from the bags?

dear god i hope not. It has to be one of those 3 cities....there is no way this thing is lame enough to end in Memphis after all this....

Smile
I was kinda thinking they'd give each finalist a different bag and say "see you there" and then have the event synced at the three locations.

after re-reading the rules, it seems to me that the final 3 people will be the people that got 1st in chapters 1, 2, and 3. Not the first 3 people to finish the last chapter.

then it says they'll be competing in "A" secret city in the real world. I'm guessing it'll be in whatever cities on the bags are closest to the winners?

I'm thinking it's still just the final puzzle, the book with the rankings now has a section at the beginning saying "these are for bragging rights only until 6/16/08 @ 12:01 AM when the final puzzle is released"

What do the rules say exactly?

The first three (3) Entrants who successfully complete all of the puzzles released in the Puzzle Release Period 4 (based on completion time and date) will be the potential Contest Finalists. Entrants will have only one (1) chance to submit their solutions for the final puzzles of the Contest. Once an Entrant clicks "submit" he/she cannot participate further in the Puzzle Release Period 4.

It all comes down to puzzle 4 it seems then. Which as we can only submit once, will be possible to get wrong. And most likely much more difficult...sweet

I'm guessing this will be one that you get no feedback as to whether you got it right or not before you submit.

So I just had to go with trial and error on that last puzzle... went from 19 on the 4th to 30 on the 5th Sad ... Did some of you use the bags to get the exact location? How? I saw where someone had done it, but I didn't understand his explanation.

I've been lurking a while... took a bit to read all 26 pages of posts (it was only 26 when i started, anyway)...
