[trailhead?] stareightsix.com
or just a puzzle website?

Found this blog entry about the discovery of a strange video and website.

http://stareightsix.com - the page name has the title "part four"

Read the blog entry first, as the rest skips to spoilers.

He searched through the site and eventually came to http://stareightsix.com/hyperplane

It's labeled "verify" and has a number of screens from the video in a grid, and symbols around the outside.
Below is another grid of text field, using a font that shows the pie-style symbols for numbers.

The values for the grid that match their symbol labels are:
1 2 3 4
10 11 12 13
14 20 21 22

Any thoughts? Looks like it may have been up for a while (by the "part four" label), or it might just be another web-based puzzle trail...

Exactly the same question I was about to ask lol.

According to this website: http://8help.osu.edu/2264.html

Quote:
Call Park Deactivate *86

Edit: Upon first glance the video does seem somewhat "ARG"ish, a bit too much for a mere puzzle (but that's just my opinion). Will check out the site and such now.

nice find, gonna see what i can figure out...

also, *86 is a non standard code - certain carriers or local PBX' might assign it... I recall it being a continuos redial option for Bell, but it could mean alot of things...

Heliĝu seems to mean "clear" is Esperanto, and Ek! is the abbreviation for Esperanta Klavaro, a program that can process Esperanto and and display diacritic letters... not sure if Esperanto is the right path though... just a guess so far....

By accident, I found out that jaybill (jaybill.com) is blogging about his very own ARG. Maybe that's why he has so much info for us.

FYI, here is the YouTube account: http://www.youtube.com/user/stareightsix - the account was created Nov. 28th, the video was only posted two days ago, with a sign in of an hour ago - the domain has been around for over a year - but this 'game' is new...

bah! jaybill! (eta: care to disseminate how you know it's jaybill's arg? I hvaen't found any 'meta' notes at all yet)

anyway, perhaps Ek! is actually "Ok!" it seems to submit the form values when clicked, as also "Clear" well, clears the fields. Wink

Natas I don't mean to sound rude (or stupid lol) But are you basing the assumption it's Jaybill's blog on the comment
Quote:
...aaand just to be thorough, I blogged about it as well: http://jaybill.com/2008/11/30/stareightsixcom/#
??

Or, am I missing something else?

Okay so if you click the word "Heliĝu" the two sets of circles in the "Top second column" without the photos, move closer together and if you click the "Ek!" the words "NE" Appear just next to the two clickable options...

@ Leyton Not, rude, or stupid. Just wrong. You know what people say about assumptions, right. Anyway, I don't wanna post how I came to that conclusion on the forums.

ok... here we go...

the first row of numbers correspond to 2, 11, 0 and 4

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

the next two rows the answers are:
0, 3, 0, 2
0, 1, 0, 0

this will lead you to: http://stareightsix.com/2-11-0-4-0-3-0-2-0-1-0-0/

Ok, someone I trust just told me it's not likely that what I found could be used to hack jaybill's site. (I'm not internet savvy like a lot of folks around here). So here goes...

I went to http://stareightsix.com/HYPERPLANE/ and clicked on the background image... http://stareightsix.com/wp-content/themes/illuminosity/images/sitebanner.png

I removed the last two bits, (/images/sitebanner.png) hoping to find some sort of index or anything, but instead got,

Quote:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function get_header() in /home/content/j/a/y/jaybill/html/wp-content/themes/illuminosity/index.php on line 1

Apparently, it's a wordpress error, but interestingly enough, it contains jaybill as a directory. Coincidence. maybe. Probably not though.

Ah yeah there we go, that'll do it. - No it more than likely could not be used to hack the site and it makes sense.

Okay well I dunno who Jaybill is and didn't before this (Except that he's the blog guy) So I'm going to pretend I missed that and move on.

Cheers for the info Natas!

OK, just to nip this in the bud, I'm one of Jaybill's friends mentioned in his post and he has nothing to do with this, unless he enjoyed pretending to be stumped along with me for the last day and a half. A friend of his pulled the video off of YT's Recently Posted and tweeted it, and Jaybill blogged it. (And it would be a little impatient of an ARG creator to start spoiling solutions a day after the game begins, wouldn't it?)

Late yesterday afternoon we reached the page you guys have managed to get to in under an hour. (The solution is to
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
multiply the coordinates of each image, and place that value in the boxes below in the order the images appear in the video.
)

So no idea about the code yet. Only idea I have at the moment is
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
the message is tagged as code in the source, and we're asked to "decode" the message three times. Might just be coincidence, or a clue that the solution involves computer code? Could the underscores and comma represent instructions instead of a letter? It's obviously not any kind of straight substitution.

Hope I'm not over-spoiling.
