aaron, there are direct messages on Twitter - I think she means that those don't work. Are you "following" all the people that she is following? That will let you know what everyone else has said.

T9 could also be referring to T9 word texting instead of Abc texting. Question

OK I think I follow -- because I did send a message...but apparently, its private... so is that how twitter works?

You send a 'private' message, and she responds back in a 'public' manner?

So we are all messaging her...and she can pick and choose to respond which shows up on her twitter?

Sorry to sound like such a n00b with this twitter stuff. Just trying to make heads and tails out of it.
