Well I have checked the list on Google Earth from Oakwood Memorial Park Cemetery, Chatsworth, California on down and nothing looks right to me. I also noticed that all the markers seem to be flat which I thought was odd and you're right tongue tied, they do seem big. Does anyone know what type of trees those are? Maybe we can use the trees to narrow down a geographical area? I am at a loss.

Guys just to say... It's not definitely the United States.

There are some countries in Europe which drive on the right side of the road, Spain being one of them. I just thought I'd point that out.

Man, I would tear my hair out if it were just "cemetery". That said I figure since most of the others have been specific places, I'm guessing this is one too. It seems out of place to just throw in a random cemetery with all the other famous locations.

OK, we can't rule out Europe based on which side of the road people drive. You can say it's not the UK, but the majority of countries drive on the right:

I'm fairly sure it's a cemetery-- what else could those things be? And there seem to be a lot of stone circles, surrounding what look like memorials, like in cemeteries.

The trees are definitely coniferous, because they're very long. Decidous trees look like broccoli in Google Earth.

I checked all of the parks in Google Earth and none of them looked a whole lot like the photo to me either, but the ones that looked the most like them were:

Calvary Cemetery, East Los Angeles, California --maybe
Hollywood Forever Memorial Park Cemetery, Hollywood, California -
Home of Peace Cemetery, East Los Angeles, California
Oakwood Memorial Park Cemetery, Chatsworth, California
Woodlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Nashville, Tennessee

It could be a park with some kind of fair or outdoor market going on. Given the size of the cars, you wouldn't be able to see people walking around necessarily.

I'm taking a short break, too, since my eyes hurt at this point. I'm with elite.fencer in thinking about the trees since there's nothing else that has taken us to this location yet. I couldn't find a match with any of the famous cemeteries or any in Brantford. I didn't look at all in the Boston area yet.

I've posted the picture to Ask Metafilter to see if a fresh pair of eyes recognizes it. Keep your fingers crossed for a hit!

Well let's think this out loud.

The trees are certainly not from the far South or anything tropical. I've seen trees like that anywhere from the Carolinas to Maine, not to mention a few Europe locations.

If it is a cemetery, which the general consensus is that it is, it's packed solid. Other than the main road in to the center rotunda, the paths are rather nondescript and low profile.

The car in the center of the rotunda is certainly plausible in a cemetery; visitors and the funeral procession could usually drive up reasonably close to the graves themselves.

The outside streets are not square; that is, it does not conform to the usual "streets east to west, avenues north to south" grid pattern common in most big North American cities. Which leads one to believe it's either in a relatively rural area or it is in fact Europe. Furthermore, although it is arguable that they can't be seen from this distance and resolution, there does not seem to be any streetlights, adding to the rural atmosphere.

It does appear that the vehicles are driving on the right side of the road, which would rule out at least England and similar countries.

Anyone have anything else to add?

I'm not comfortable ruling out a US city based on the streets. All I know is this is unlikely to be some random place when everything else in the collage is well known. That said, we've researched a lot of cemeteries here now and haven't found it yet.

Don't get me wrong; I'm not flat out ruling anything out. Just trying to discuss things in the hopes that people might get ideas.

We got seven hours, don't we?
