[SKY][REF]Useful Info for The Sky Remains
Note: Knowing the terms of service (TOS) is required by TSR PMs (game creators).

Updated 5/18/08 (details at bottom of post)

To All: Let me know if you would like something added here.

To New Players: Please see the New Player section (at bottom) BEFORE making a post. I've heard that some of the moderators have these really big rulers that will wrap around your wrist when they rap your knuckles with it. Don't become a victim. You have been warned. (I'm kidding of course.) The New Player section is at the bottom because once you've become more experienced, you won't want to have to scroll past the blasted thing every time that you want to look up something you use more often.

Quote:
Did you miss the two Pat and Dave videos after the puzzles on the main game website? Fear not. Simply follow the instructions in this post in order to view them.

Links for the game

Terms of Service
(a.k.a. Terms and Conditions), which you are required to know if you are going to participate in the game
Terms of Service Page <<Hint: click brown text!

Initial Contact (teaser) from Sam Skinery
This was received in an email by many of the initial players
Sam Skinery's Message

Main Game Website
Sky Remains Game Site

This contains:
  • Link to sign up (click SIGN UP of course)
  • Link to the original website (click META text)
  • Welcome video from Ms. Poliakov
  • Login section
  • Animated TSR tree logo

The Sky Remains Wiki
TSR Wiki

This contains information from the game such as:
  • the story so far,
  • the puzzles and their solutions (the solutions are hidden until you click on "Show Solution"
  • Information on the characters
  • Videos, pictures, audio, and maps
  • Links to both in-game website and off-website forums

The Sky Remains Chat Channel on UF
UF Chat
  1. When the chat page has loaded replace the text in the box that has "lurker" in it with your game name (use an underscore in place of spaces in your name). All entries are case insensitive.
  2. In the box right after "Channel:" replace "#unfiction" with "#6thDimensionAgents". (We are not in the pull-down list, unfortunately.)
  3. Click on the button at the bottom with the arrow and circle on it. You are now in the TSR chat room.
  4. Type in "/help" for a list of commands that you can use. The one section I use most is the user commands--type in "/helpop usercmds" to see it.
  5. There are two ways to leave the chat room. If you want to enter the chat room for another game, type in "/quit" and you'll be taken back to the original entry point and type in the channel you want. The second way to quit is to just close the browser page, without using the "/quit" command.

Original Game Website
Original Sky Remains Website (now a Meta site--more for information than for playing)

The original website contains:
  • a link to the trailer
  • a link to a feedback questionnaire
  • a FAQ about the game, including mscape info (different from the FAQ in the Sky Remains forum)
  • an about the game link (which contains an audio file of the theme song of The Sky Remains in its entirety--just click on the triangle!)
  • Note: There is a "Support" link listed, but it is not linked up to anything.

The Sky Remains YouTube channel:
Pat and Dave Videos

This contains a few videos from IG (in-game) characters Pat and Dave. They're humorous IMHO (In My Humble Opinion).

And last but very much not least:

Wendy's Page
This is the site where our client, Wendy Skinery, has placed a lot of information. You must solve a few puzzles to get the URL for this page. So go register and start playing!

New Player Section

Must-Reads for all Players
As promised, here is what you really have to know. Some items are duplicated from the top so that everyone is guaranteed to see them.

The moderators and administrators here are actually very kind, helpful, and intelligent people. But they are also very busy, so know some of these things so that you will save their time for when you REALLY need them.

These, you need to know thoroughly so that you don't get kicked out of the game by the PMs (see acronyms below), your hands slapped by a moderator, or get complaints from other players:

Critical Info
  • (a.k.a. Terms and Conditions), which you are required to know if you are going to participate in the game
Terms of Service Page <<Hint: click brown text!
  • Posting Guidelines Find out whether to post, where to post, and how to tag your posts
  • How to Use Search Post If you have a comment or question, do a search first to see if the info you have or need has already been posted

Helpful things that you should view at least once

Some acronyms that a new player might not know
  • IG = In Game
  • OOG = Out Of Game
  • UF = Unfiction
  • ARG = Alternate Reality Game
  • CF = Chaotic Fiction
  • PM = Puppet Master--the people who created and/or are running the game. Sometimes this gets duplicated as Private Message--but please don't use it that way.

For general Internet acronyms, try this lookup web site:
The Internet Acronym Server

Update 5/18/08: Added links to individual pages at META site; included reference to mscape and added link to the site; put in info about the two IG Pat and Dave vids, and added link to post on how to access them.

Minor edit on 5/22: Changed one of the titles and moved the "How to Use Search" link to where it should have been in the first place.

Minor edit on 6/3: Fixed minor typos.
