[Run]East Bay Labyrinth Run--Willard Park, Berkeley

So between me and Ariock and Pita we were thinking of getting back together to do another labyrinth run--because the SF one was totally awesome--and a lot of my friends couldn't come to the last one (but it would be easier to come to one in Berkeley).

SO we searched and found a good spot--Willard Park, Berkeley. Anyone else up for it? I have absolutely no idea when it'll be... but that's what this thread's for Razz

I'd be up for it! I know you guys seem pretty set on Willard Park, but I still think playing on the UC Berkeley campus wouldn't be a bad idea. The spot I've been thinking about is right inside Sather Gate, and there's a lot of flat, open cement area there. I'm sure there will be random people walking through but it definitely isn't as busy as it is during the weekdays, and we could pull them in and make them play the game too. It might not be as secluded as a park, but is that really a bad thing? Very Happy

I'm game as long as I'm not obligated to a school project. Keep me posted as to the time.

"who's up for a synchronizing labyrinth on may 10/11?" -- Ariadne via Twitter

Crazy synchronizing labyrinth madness. This is pretty much a post stolen frm the SF topic.

Anyone up for this? Are other people going to run on the 10/11?

If you think you can make it, please sign up here.

We're also going to schedule one for Saturday, May 10th in San Francisco (Golden Gate Park this time). Hopefully, this will be another synchronized event with whomever else can synchronize with us.

Sign up for that one here.

I will be there.

Cineball, we will be synchronizing with New Zealand, so we will be getting started at 4pm PDT.

I really liked Mr Judkins idea about synchronizing some kind of clapper board via phone, so we can do some crazy video synchronization also!

Me too!

I can be the timekeeper again using Dav's watch. I can also take video at the same time.

Yeah, sorry guys. I'm a bit pressed with my schooling and such. I'll try to make the next attempt though.

We were supposed to do a synchronized Human Labyrinth Training Event today with Wellington, NZ and Irvine, CA, but since neither we nor Irvine had enough people to even do a 3-circuit labyrinth, we couldn't.

Around 3pm, ariock, davflamerock, rangerd, and I met at Willard Park in Berkeley. We also found three of these in the park. Irvine, CA found identical ones at their labyrinth training event location. Five pictures that tell the entire story--in pictures, no less!

This is the code that was written on them:
BAABAABAAAABBAABABBABAABBBAAAAABABAAAABAABBABABABBBAAABABAAABABABABBBABAABBAABAAABAAAAABBAAABBBBAABAAABABABBA

which, in Bacon cipher, translates to either

Tinyurl.com/6pu8f

or

Tinyurl.com/6pv8f

with the additional ABBA at the end.

When I got home, I groovily discovered that Abba has a song called Ring Ring. What are the odds? 1:1, I'd say. Meaningful? It's doubtful.

If this was a gamejack, it is so very weak. At least rickroll us, you unimaginative dweebs.

Bizarre.

Interesting though, that either way with the URL you've got a New Zealand connection. Either NZ Herald or LoTR.

My guess was that it was meant to be the NZ Herald.

As to why, I have not got the foggiest.

Thanks for giving the synchronizing a shot, pity it didn't come off this time.

Interestingly enough, though, we've got wifi access where we're training too - so we could potentially do a video linkup in the future...

Who has written:
"Does not fit the code WTF?!?"

Was it someone of you or was it already written on the paper?

That'd be me.

After pita took that photo, I also wrote the fully decoded tinyurl on there.

Wow. That's interesting. I wonder who posted the fliers and what their meaning is. Any thoughts yet?

The Mystery of the Goddam ABBA

1. I spot RangerD wandering around.
2. We meet up. He goes to the bathroom. Suddenly from behind me I hear "Nice shirt!" (I was wearing my I am Mythopoeia shirt)
3. The four of us meet up and I discover that Cineball and Momonga aren't coming. (I spent the morning taking SATs, so I didn't get much of a chance to check online)
4. Ariock and Pita show me the poster. It's hysterical.
5. Ariock finishes transcribing the cypher and splitting it into groups of 5.
6. I whip out my sidekick and get the cipher. We begin decoding.
7. After some wierdness RangerD notices that it's a tinyurl.
8. Someone online cracks it before us.
9. We wonder what the hell ABBA has anything to do with anything.
10. I check tinyurl.com/6pu8fn and tinyurl.com/6pu8fn and the same things with V instead of U. Nothing.
11. RD comes up with the NZ herald by ignoring the ABBA. With the V we discover a LotR picture, apparently taken from a deleted scene.
12. We puzzle over it.
13. RD announces that he had stolen someone's WiFi while in his car, so we return to his car and he whips out his laptop.
14. We try many things, but don't come up with anything definitive.
15. Finally we agree to go get some food. I accidentally miss the restaurant the first time >.<
16. I swing by BART and pick up a friend of mine who had forgotten that the labyrinth running was today.
17. We eat dinner and discuss random topics.
18. Glen (my friend) and I head out at about 6:20ish.
