You expressed a lot more patience and diligence than I could in this one. I went about 15 minutes before saying "aw, screw this."

Thanks, Twinkles! Very Happy

Aaaaaahahah that's me! Deranged!
You have no idea how much foul-mouthed cursing there was in this house today, all because of that puzzle. And I didn't finish it at all - I'd say it was maybe 1/3 put together when I figured it out. I was soooo close to quitting at that point too, after like 6+ hours straight. Gah.

I get no credit. It was funny, though. I posted a guess at "to breathe or not to breathe" literally within a minute of her solving it, but she's the smartie because I didn't DO anything with my guess. lol

Ursos you have every right to feel proud because you were right there with the answer. Great work and props to you, too. Smile

FINAL TASK POSTED BY DOC

Welcome to the final challenge to save BEX. I've been impressed with your tenacity so far. It's too bad so many such as yourselves falter at the last lap. Let's see if you can beat my presumptions. I know I can.

You have four options here. Complete as few or as many of them as you like. I'll count each successful completion as one point and each of you could potentially get to five points.

1) You and your encouragement sign photographed in front of a genuine landmark in your area. Some of you are ahead of the game on this one. I'll give you an extra point if you have five or more people (incl. yourself) in the picture and they are aware of being photographed.

2) A video detailing your thoughts on the ability of humanity to show compassion on a stranger. Be compelling. Anything under two minutes won't count.

3) A video of you interviewing others on the topic of compassion and humanity. Get to the heart of it. Minimum: two subjects not including yourself.

4) A creative encouragement to BEX to "hang" in there. Sky's the limit.

Things to note:
*Videos should be uploaded to youtube for viewer friendliness.
*Your username here must be attached to each submission.
*Multiple submissions by one user of the same task will not count.
*In the case of a truly impressive entry, going above and beyond, I may award extra points. It's always nice, rare though, to see humanity sparkle in the face of adversity.

And most importantly:
*There will be an upload period. No links to any of the above can be added before the "upload" period begins. BEX and I will greet you to kick that off 72 hours from NOW, unless she makes a break for it, in which case I suppose we'll finish up sooner.

The Clinic will be open from time to time between now and then, so come on in and let's chat. There's no good reason we can't be friends!

I'm setting a high point price on BEX's life.
If you succeed, she walks away. If not... well you'll see either way.

Good luck.

Doc.

Again, I'm not entirely sure why Doc was so specific about asking where we were (for, essentially, the third time). I wonder if he intends for those of us that are near each other to meet up and work on this task together. Any thoughts, or plans to do as such? And why is it so quiet?! Mother's Day activities, or you're all busy doing this last task?

[META]The thing is... He assumes we all have video capabilities, photographic capabilities and lots of friends.

I have none except the friends lol, but I also don't have the time @ the moment to be making videos and taking pictures so I guess I'm out again.... Sorry guys and girls.[/META]

The way I read Doc's fourth option, "creative encouragement," is that we can use any means or format we choose. Anyone can write her a letter or song or share things that have inspired them in challenging times.

Ya, I don't have video camera access either. I can still do the encouraging poster and the "creative encouragement", but why does this feel like a high school project to me? Not that I mind so much, it'll be fun I'm sure (nice break from real work) but feels odd.

I think he should give an alternative option to the video camera ones, maybe I'll ask him when the CLINIC opens.

I just posted in the Question thread in the Sanctuary of Ethics to determine how strict he's being with the definition of the word "video" for those of us without access to cameras.

Me wrote:
Doc, how strict are you being with the word "video"? I have no access to a video camera, and I don't think I'm the only one in this situation, so could those of us without a camera record an audio track (our voices making whatever statements are necessary in the video) and put it over a still picture?

That's kinda what I was thinking, why am I finishing some college thesis for someone? I don't have a video camera either. I could take a bunch of pictures and put them together for a slide show, but no sound capabilities other than adding a song. I'd rather solve ten more of those awful puzzles before doing this task. If this is the end of game, I'm not too impressed. I guess I'm all out of compassion.

No video camera for me either, but I do have a sketchbook and a million art supplies, so I guess I'll go for the poster and "creative encouragement" route as well.

I just happen to be heading out the the Santa Monica pier today so I'll take a picture with a sign in front of the ferris wheel. It was just in Ironman so it is definitely a landmark!

I can do the personal video as well, but it might be tricky interviewing two others for the other option. I'll try though.
