[PRESS] Cloverfield on Blu Ray in June 3! And something exclusive is in it! http://bluray.highdefdigest.com/pressrelease_paramountlaunchesbluray.html
Quote:
Following the initial wave of titles, Producer J.J. Abrams' monster hit, Cloverfield, arrives on Blu-ray on June 3. Earning over $166 million in worldwide box office to date, Cloverfield thrilled critics and audiences alike with its shocking, first-person video account of a horrifying attack on Manhattan by an unknown -- and seemingly unstoppable -- force. The Cloverfield Blu-ray will include an exclusive feature-length "Special Investigation Mode" with added details about the film . Additional features include a director commentary, Making Of featurettes, deleted scenes, alternate endings with commentary and more.
Also the OFFICIAL Paramount Blu Ray site says "Coming Soon".

Investigation mode? Not sure what that is, but why wasn't it in the normal DVD cause I don't have nor plan on getting Blue Ray.

Frankly it sounds like a rehash of the same content we've already seen in the other various DVD releases. They may package it differently, but whoopee - big deal. I could see maybe having all of the JLT videos or some such, but then again we who've followed this from the start have already seen all of those.
Get it for being the highest resolution copy of the film you'll be able to get. If they did things correctly and kept all of the original HD content at HD level when editing, you should have a really great perspective of the events in the film.
I don't get how 49" of 1080p (presumably LCD, maybe plasma) is inferior.
I have a 27" NTSC CRT TV, with S-video. I haven't gotten my 42" LCD yet, so I'm the one who should feel like he's got the inferior viewing experience.

It will probably be content that runs PIP with the movie or BD-Live w/ online features. Most likely it's a feature a DVD couldn't support.

Just a thought, and I'll see about confirming it with my source, but the "Special Investigation Mode" sounds like it might be:

i know how u feel ive got a 32inch lcd in my room and a 42inch 1080p lcd in the living room. when i bought them (1 year ago) they were considered big.
if it has the features that where going to be on the hd-dvd i might buy it. if its just better quality and not alot of extra stuff im not buying it but i i spent like 20$ on the dvd and ps3 up-converts every dvd to 1080i which is good enough for me.
id definatly recomend ps3 if ur looking at a blu-ray player. its like what $400 plus it plays games web browsing etc
