[PRESS] Cloverfield destroys DVD Charts!
Is #1

Paramount Home Entertainment's Cloverfield topped both the national DVD sales and rental charts its first week in stores, says The Hollywood Reporter.

The film, which topped out just north of $80 million in U.S. theaters, coasted to an easy victory on the Nielsen VideoScan First Alert sales chart, bumping the previous week's top seller, Fox's Juno, to No. 2

That's good news my friends. Cool

Cloverfield was #1 last week in both DVD sales and rentals, in the US and Canada.

The Cloverfield DVD pulled in $7.5 million in rentals, which is more than the last 10 weeks of the theatrical run combined. This was enough to edge out Juno, in its second week of release. This weeks big release is Golden Compass, which bombed in the theaters, so it's possible that Cloverfield will hang on to it's top spot this week.

I haven't been able to find any sales figures for the DVD yet, but RentTrak and the Canadian Press both report Cloverfield in the top spot. Cloverfield is currently #2 in iTunes sales.

Also interesting, Michael Giacchino's "Roar" made it in to the top 1o albums in iTunes (#10), but has already dropped down to #15.

Good to hear, especially with Roar as there wasn't much promotion for it's release. Hope it as least stick around 15 for awhile and I'm sure the DVD will continue to do well, though like the theatrical release it will probably dip soon.
