I would have liked to participate in this and I wish it was available to individuals and not at a landmark but I don't have a car or know five people who even know what an ARG is and I am not going to have that conversation. I can see how this is going to go right now:
"Hey there my boyfriend's super busy businessman Dad! Can you drive me and the rest of the family out to the book depository and be in a picture that says 'Get well BEX! <3 Jain'"?
"Who's Jain?"
"My internet personality that I keep secret from you!"
"Who's BEX?"
"Some girl I don't know who's been taken hostage."
"Why the book depository?"
"Cause the crazy doctor who abducted her needs a landmark!"

Anyone in the L.A. area? I was thinking about heading to the Mann's Chinese Theater. There would be plenty of strangers around to ask but it would be cool if there were some fellow ARGers there. I was thinking about telling the strangers that my friend has cancer so we're sending her inspirational messages from places she wants to go when she is better. Does that make me a bad person? Or a genius? I don't know, but I doubt I'll have trouble sleeping at night...
Let me know if anyone is interested in joining in on the fun and mayhem.

faery, I posted the whole thing on the other forum, but I'm near LA. I'll just need to see what my parents say first... I also won't be home until 7.

I'm going to try my best to do this task. Not sure where I should do it though. I could go and do it somewhere in south beach. Like on Ocean Drive or something. I was also thinking of doing it at the old Hialeah Race Track. its like a couple minutes from my house and it was one of the most famous places back in the 20's and 30's. Winston Churchill and a few former Presidents all went there to watch the horse races.

I see that place from the MetroRail platform now and then; that place looks scary now. I've actually been to that track when it was still open (yeah, I'm showing my age).
I'm guessing he just wants a place that he can readily identify through a Google search. Heck, doing at the 79th Street Tri-Rail station might be a better consideration.

it comes up on google very easy. http://www.google.com/search?sa=N&tab=lw&q=hialeah+race+track I'm still not 100% on it though. I'm gonna make the sign tonight and then take the picture tomorrow. I'll have all of tonight to think of where to do it. my issue is getting together 5 people. I got two people so far who will be in the pic with me.

DOC MESSAGE
Quote:
Your concerns have been noted (thanks to those who contacted me).
By all means, disguise your identity. I have no desire to know you beyond our short time together. The landmark serves only as a verification device.

Good to know. So anyone concerned can wear a mask or blur their faces or something. I think that will ease the minds of a lot of people.

Well darn, if I didn't work hours that no one else does I'd have the perfect place for the pic - the Arch. But being on second shift when the rest of the world is on first creates a definite problem.

Since I'm not actually *holding* the sign, I guess it won't do. Oh well...

Earlier Doc Message Just realized no one posted this earlier message from Doc:

State landmarks are acceptable. As are small town landmarks (bell-towers, churches, plaques).
Also, for those in a rural area, do the best you can. I'll try to be flexible.

I say submit it,Doc said in a recent post, no Photoshop to add a Landmark , technically you added the sign not the landmark.
