That's so true! If I was hiring a chef for my company, all they'd have to know is how to cook a mean platter of tyson frozen chicken nuggets, and how to crack open a can of Amp...

Not if they are interested in "slow food".

But healthy yummy crusted chicken tenders with an asian flare dipping sauce and iced expresso or frozen yogurt with mixed berries? How does that sound?

strange code in e-mail

I've got this e-mail today, with that pps note:

Quote:
Hi Cagri,

We've got several recruitment puzzles, and this one has stumped more than 90%
of our prospects.

Were you applying for a specific position? Just curious. If I've
misplaced a previous email, I apologize. It feels like we're out
Google-ing Google, in terms of recruiting. I haven't seen the top of
my desk in weeks.

In the meantime, if you'd like to see what life on the inside is
like, one of our new hires has started a blog (complete with video).

Here's the URL:

http://codewtrn8.blogspot.com/

Again, nice work on the puzzle. You're in good company.

Regards,

Annie Goldstein
Senior Recruiter.

PS. BTW, could you tell me how you solved the puzzle, in a sentence or two?

PPS. The email contained some strange code, fyi.

trout?

btw, i'm not sure how to see the page codes with gmail :/

Sorry if I haven't got a clue how to help with the email thing, but I was looking through Nate's blog, and I noticed that he said that he played Call of Duty 4 on a post here.

I assume he's playing an Xbox 360, since the majority of CoD4 players play on XB. I personally don't have an Xbox (I have PS3 Very Happy ), but perhaps if someone were email him or something and suggest that he noticed the blog and was looking for someone to play (or whatever pops into your head), we might be able to establish contact that way.

If it works, we could establish a connection with him that would not go through his company, a way to talk to him while he is at home (or something). It just seems that it would be "safer" to contact him on his down time.

I think that attempting to connect with him in as many ways as possible would definitely be to our advantage...

Okay, so like i asked earlier, since this is a game, can i polish my resume? Considering i've had one previous job i quit after three days and only a freshman on the track to a BS in CS it's not very impressive at the moment.

Also, no email back from her asking for a resume though, and i have no idea about business etiquette so i just addressed her as Ms. Goldstein in my reply XP Also, she didn't ask me about how i solved it.

Oh yea, and my theory about the old man, I suck at names so ya..

He left the crossword as a clue to Nate, Basically saying that his death was faked, a dissapearance he staged because he was in danger of some kind, likely something to do with his theory of holograms and he was trying to warn his succesor, or it might have been a kidnapping maybe Holomove isn't as happy as it seems, Eliza could very well be a plant to keep tabs on Nate, going to work and immediately finding a girl you could easily crush on? too sitcommy for me...but yea, i'm paranoid.

On an unrelated note, maybe this is for yellow book Laughing I was watching TV earlier *gasp* a rare occurance, and they used holograms in one of their commercials *Grins*

So am I the only one that isn't using completely bogus information? I'm using a real resume and a real LinkedIn profile... feels rather weird doing that.

Well, at least y'all don't have to worry: I ain't no chef. I can't cook for squat.

(Ironic, ain't it?)

It's been on my mind that this seems very well funded for something that doesn't have an obvious product attached. The fact that it's getting a geek demographic (no offense intended to geeks... or italians) to look into all these hologram ideas and futuristic user interface ideas, etc. makes me feel that by the end of this we might hear about something along the lines of Microsoft Surface, or something similar... how cool would it be if they were just raising awareness of holographic, haptic interfaces so we are all ready for a release of this kind of technology?!

Also I find it well funny how ALL the resumes are lost (even those that werent sent!) and accompanying the email is the BIGGEST hint ever to just fake your resume with all the info they want you to say... ie. just rework the job descriptions from craigslist or the chef profile from the slow-food email.

I'm not gonna write a chef resume, depending on how much time i have i might apply for another, but i would want to be filled in, well researched, first.

But for those applying for a chef job. Maybe you could talk about Greek food, as the big boss has a greek name, George Poulapakis or whatever (no offense to Greek ppl if I got that wildly wrong :b )

PS. I wonder if we'd get an announcement at the bottom of the holomove site and/or a profile on the website if we get a job.
