Well, your right, I was excited but you rained on that parade really fast. Also you don't have to treat me like I'm dumb.

WHOA, I wasn't treating you like you are dumb. I was just explaining why I thought it was a country code. please don't take that the wrong way.

Wow... I read that and the comments. I didn't know it was humanly possible to be so passionate about the periodic table.

Replace periodic table with "ciphers" and look at unfiction. ;P

Hmmmm... maybe the periodic table is a cipher key somehow... hehe

Ok I'm bored with reading about chemistry and ionic bonds and trying to figure out what the chemical formula for the logo would be. Did I mention I failed the AP Chem test because I hated chem and didn't think I'd ever need it in film school?

Someone who enjoys/remembers this stuff figure it out. I'm pretty sure that the logo and the periodic table are related in some way. Also while reading around I noticed lasers kept coming up? I thought there was some mention of lasers at one point but have no desire to go digging through 24 pages looking for it.

I just started Organic Chem as a summer class, and sadly we haven't learned much yet that I could apply to this, but I'm trying

Looks like there are three atoms in the molecule....And plenty of molecules have three atoms. How can we determine which it is?

Yeah, it would appear that it's on the actual medal:

That was already mentioned by Wireless in this post.

Considering that the images on Digg/randomknowledge are labeled h.png, p.gif and p.jpg maybe there is some sort of chemical compound. Maybe the p is for phosphorus. The only compound I can find is Phosphine PH 3

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phosphine

which interestingly has a link to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phosphene

Algeria = .dz
Antigua and Barbuda = .ag

The more I look into it, I believe Phosphene is what we are looking for. It fits with the links to Albert Hoffman (hallucinogens) and Charles Messier (seeing stars) but not sure how it would link to Darwin Booher.

And what does this have to do with everything else, if anything at all? I don't know. It just makes some sense considering the hologram plot.

Looking at the logo, the three "atoms" are each a different color (actually, the primary visual colors, keeping with the whole hologram thing) but this would suggest three different atoms (playing with my organic chemistry model kit Smile ) therefore i think we can rule out any 3 atom molecule that has a repeat atom (e.g. H2O, NH2, etc.) and go with any molecule that has 3 distinct components

using the above table as a start point, my analysis narrows it down
leaving: HDO, HCN, HNC, HCO, OCS

ADDENDUM: further analysis of the clues

the periodic table pic indicates H is important so now it leaves
HDO, HCN, HNC, HCO

The bent shape is characteristic of 3 component Oxygen compounds,
us to narrow it down even further:
HDO (monodeuterated water), HCO (formyl radical)

Both are mentioned in a paper involving astrophysics and.... you guessed it... lasers!

http://www.rsc.org/publishing/journals/article.asp?doi=ft9908603837

and beyond that, no clue...
