Yser/Ypres confusion

I am assuming that May 17 and "Yser" pointed us to the events on the Yser Canal May 17, 1915. I believe that would be considered part of the Second Battle of Ypres, but the location is Yser Canal. (The names are close enough that I suppose we may have misread the clue, somehow.)

I don't think the October Battle of Yser is intended. (That may be why we got "second" in the picture clue.)

Interestingly, there is a contemporary account from the NYT archive.
http://query.nytimes.com/gst/abstract.html?res=9507EEDC1338E633A25752C2A9639C946496D6CF

Note in the last paragraph that it appears some of the German officers were killed by their own gas weapons.

[All the same, I could be wrong. I don't claim any special knowledge of military history, I'm just following clues like everyone else!]

new post from Nate

But it's not completed, as if he had to stop suddenly for some reason.

I feel like hell. On every level. I tried my patented breakfast-burrito-as-savior approach, but it's not working. I've consumed a swimming pool's worth of water, over the last six hours. Not one of those kidney shaped pools. The other kind.

So, it's over. I'm such a tool. Turns out, she basically admitted that she hooked up with me to keep me on task. How sick is that? It gets

Emergen-C. Good idea. It's making the rounds.

Re: cut off. I hit publish by accident. More soon. It's crazy. I've got to race off to a meeting and pretend that I care. While attempting not to yak.

*eta the Emergen-C comment was in answer to the previous comment by Ignu5..."Hope you feel better, have you tried taking Emergen-C? It definitely gives me the kick I need in the morning to get going!"

maybe an Enigma cipher?

Except we would need a "key" for enigma.
BTW, here is a good enigma simulator.

AgentLex was able to decipher part of it by using his keyboard. That was a hint on how to solve the rest.

lol i just googled the # and it said that it has to do with some group by the name mission for christ. of course, the extension we were given wasnt said, but its funny, found that at http://whocallsme.com/Phone-Number.aspx/6417153900 dunno if that will make a diff, but i thought it might bring cheer to someones life Razz

*EDIT* should i social engineer a phone call to that # and extension? or should i let someone else handle it? Since I break ARGs when I speak Sad

It's actually owned by a voicemail service called Simple Voice Box. Free voicemail, yada yada.

Wow, great work!

I just saw this, and thought it was interesting. (YouTube video of the Shinran Shonin statue in NYC, at the end he says that children often leave paper cranes at the base.)

No need to speak. Dialing (641) 715-3900 gives you an automagic prompt asking you to enter the extension number followed by the pound sign (64676#). Doing that puts you into a mailbox where you can listen to an extremely crappy recording of Dr. Gough talking (similar to his original interview, but definitely different). After its over, you can re-listen to it, or it also gives you some admin choices that I didn't mess around with.

I'm not complaining or anything... it just strikes me as odd that we are having to jump through hoops in order to obtain little to no useful information.

What are we going to have to solve to get the really secret important stuff?

Vig! Ha! (sorry).

Daughter! Ha! (sorry).

Nate single again! Ha! (not sorry). Laughing Laughing

Okay, back to the solve. Can anyone make a recording/transcript for the archives? Might as well start a [HOLO] Dr. Gough thread while were at it (post his video link and what we know about him in there as well).

We're slowly moving forward in this mystery!
