A new post on the blog is up. Most of it is Nate talking about the crossword puzzle message and how amazing Nate's life is. Also he mentions the packages floating around. Just to keep everyone updated.

I should have popped in to say I was lurking. Nice to get quoted by Nate though! Smile

Edited to add: If Dr. Gough has hidden something important that we need to locate, do you think there is a clue on that video of the good Doctor describing his love of all things holographic? I was noticing that the hourglass on the left side of the picture has all the sand on the top and never seems to go down... almost as if something was hidden inside it.

There has to be a clue in front of us, right? Dead Doctors tell no tales, and there isn't anything out there to research, so it must be in the video, no?

I just called the number again, planning to leave a voicemail stating my interest in a job.

After two rings, a woman picked up.

"Hello, thank you for calling Holomove, how can I help you?"

I hung up... kinda got shocked I guess.

****EDIT****
I called back again, around 5:30 PM EST

Girl answered again, I asked to be transfered to a manager in charge of hiring and was transfered to the voicemail box again. I left a message stating my name and giving my cell number. I also made it clear that I had already applied and I was fairly certain that I had properly passed there test, making sure to mention the answer being "the future is within reach". I guess from here I wait?

Thanks... maybe I'll give it a call later. I'm too tired to think clearly right now...

But when I do call I'll let them know about my recipes are described as intellectually stimulating by 9/10 Mensa members.

That's even a San Diego area code.

Who are these people? I'm impressed!

Maybe it's me... but isn't the point of a massive viral marketing campaign from a professional corporation to promote something? Wouldn't the point be to, you know, know the PRODUCT?

Somehow I don't think this is for Visual Studio 2008... Rolling Eyes

all the uncommon (non-3rd party code) and local (to the site) http requests made after loading the site and browsing around are:

* http://feeds.feedburner.com/HolomoveNews

oddly, when I loaded the RSS feed for the News (feedburner link), the formatted feed page appeared, and somehow the tracker caught that the sixapart.com homepage was requested. No idea where from. For some reason when I refreshed this time (not the other times I checked out the feed page) it returned a standard RSS xml feed, with no other formatted content. Perhaps it was cached before and they recently fixed the reference *shrug*. Is SixApart involved? Or was this just a fluke?

Anyway, so no there's no revealing secret requests or anything just from a general use of the flash. I haven't checked the source yet though, but I'm thinking for now that there's not really anything to find. We have our 'puzzle' =)

SixApart makes Moveable Type, the blogging software that Holomove is using.

@nighthawk

Area codes aren't much trouble. I'm impressed too.

Plus, why WOULDN'T it be from MS? They've sure got their "power user" target audience/demographic here. Why not send a game over?

EDIT: Well, never mind. I'm having my doubts about Microsoft now. They wouldn't host it on a cheap web host like bluehost.com; or would they for the sake of the ad agency? I'm going crazy.

hah d'oh! Embarassed For some reason I had "SixToStart" in my head Razz sheesh... yes SixApart was also behind livejournal.
Still, there was no reference in that formatted feed page to sixapart. But if they're behind software for holomove, then it's worth shrugging off I think. Confused

It has to be a big player... to put ads in the New York Times, Craigslist and LinkedIn, you gotta have some brass.

*de-lurks*

Thought this would be good to have on file here - I made a transcript of the interview of Dr. Gough, in case we need to look at it later.

Quote:
Interviewer: So, Dr. Gough, what new directions and techniques have you been working on?

Dr. Gough: Well for many years now, I've been working on trying to explore the boundaries in the holography field, first moving into photographic representation of objects three-dimensionally, making images that we all can see and interact with, and then try see how far we can extend that interaction beyond what we've done up to this point.

Interviewer: You've got a reputation for taking nothing at face value. Some say you don't respect your predecessors, traditions, or even laws.

Dr. Gough: Oh, I never presume anything. After all, anything in science that may be said to be impossible, might be possible. We have to further examine it and press the limits. People think that laws, scientific laws as they hear about them, are absolute things. They're not. They're merely descriptions. And, they represent current knowledge. [Loud snap in background] But current knowledge is always increasing as we continue our research, so I've made it a goal in my life to find those areas where people want to things that are said to be impossible, and try to do them. And often enough, I've managed to do just that.

[Video skips, perhaps a break or skipping over part of the interview]

Interviewer: Continuing our discussion with Dr. Gough, what are your guiding principles?

Dr. Gough: Integrity, and perseverence. Those are my core values. And of course, I also believe in the value of hard work.

Interviewer: Perseverence is fine, but what about balance, work, life, family? Do you have time for these things?

Dr. Gough: I have excelled in science, and I've made that the focus of my life.

Interviewer:
Dr. Gough, thank you so much for your time today.

Dr. Gough: Always a pleasure.

I decompiled the SWF file. I can make something out of it, but I can't really program ActionScript. If anyone can, take a look, will you?
